I know..paint cans too I guess...but toss them I do...

I have one big can..like a coffee can.... But it was the can Italian San Marzano tomatoes came in. Super-sized.. BJ's - Costco sized. It is lined with a white plastic (??) coating. Probably so the tomatoes don't get tinny tasting while packed. Anyway, that stays on my stove top. I always say I am going to paper it or paint it so it doesn't look like what it is -- a big ugly tin can. It is the BEST repository for stirring spoons covered with sauce ...forks that are greasy.. I had so many spoon holders over the years and none were more than decorations..but that ole can is my buddy. Washes up real well too.

Nice!
Life is a rush into the unknown. You can duck down and hope nothing hits you, or you can stand tall, show it your teeth and say "Dish it up, Baby, and don't skimp on the jalapeños."

Me too! So pretty and inexpensive. I could not grow petunia ...deer.....but I could sedum ...it would look like a wooly creature!!

Same here. The deer would eat it the first day it was finished. Sedums might look very nice!

Now I would have to figure which...some sedum gets left alone..I tried matrona once in a fairly accessible spot-- and gone in 3 days.

It's a challenge, all right. I just did a quick search and came up with a few that are deer resistent sedums.

Thanks. I have one that is left alone ground crawler ...but I don't know what it is. Totally ignored ....in a planter ...never watered except by mother nature and comes back each year too.

Let us know if you ever figure out what it is. It's taking me so long to find deer proof plants. They even eat my cholla and prickly pear cacti.

No!! Those deer crazy. Very curious creatures to deal with.

Looks like this one but if that pink bloom is part of it....mine doesn't bloom

I think it is called sparkleberry

Look at these...all would be great in the "planter". -- for a wooly or just interesting look. All these supposed to be reliably ( hmm) deer resistant

I would love to have a longer shaggy flower coming out the bottom...like a skirt ... Aka buffalo

Those are all just beautiful! They would make a fantastic planter. I'll have to add it to my looooooooong list of things I plan to do "one of these days!"

I have that list too....and I am not 30 ---- I better get on the stick. 😆

I do love succulents and figured at some point when the physical aspect of gardening gets to be too much or when I have done all I can do in the garden ( how delusional is that??) this may provide salve for the need to grow living things and make beauty. I can't embrace the fairy garden minature aspect but I sure like all those succulents and colorful things in the pots...I can tend these and plan and design and rip things out and move the parts and pieces a thousand times -- just like in the "big" garden. Enlarged, you can see how unique they are
