We have over the years had to replace dishwashers, both ours and the in-laws, so I have a variety of different types of utensil baskets. One was screwed to the under-sink kitchen cabinet at MIL's to hold sponges, scrubbies, steel wool, and sink stoppers.

One holds glue, epoxy tubes and stuff like that in DH's work room and we use one as (wait for it) a utensil holder for cook-outs and picnics. Whistling

It would be good hanging from the grands desk..for crayons and rulers and such.
Be nice for those remotes that are floating everywhere too

I was going to get rid of this old, discolored wrought iron candelabra, but instead I painted it, glued on some reclaimed ceiling light globes and put in some trailing flowers. Now I have a lovely candelabra planter instead of more trash in the local landfill. Oh, the blue chair is an Eastlake antique chair ca. 1905 that the caning was destroyed in the seat. Recaning it was cost prohibitive so I turned it into a planter as well!

I agree. Love the color.
Maybe you have inspired me to paint the candelabra and chandelier that I have waiting for a redo.

I love the chandelier and the chair, especially the color!

Just a thought on chairs with cane seats, my grandmother had a number of these types of chairs and she had my Dad cut a pice of thin plywood to cover the seat hole. With a chair pad no one notices that the seat isn't perfect.

Thank you, all! It's fun taking something that might otherwise be discarded and giving it a new life. I feel like I've done my part in the last few years to keep some items out of landfills!

The Eastlake chairs had several issues. They were so old and had not been properly cared for during their lifetime that doing anything beyond what I was able to do just was not possible. They would likely not have held up to anyone's weight on them. The seat joins were 'tied' together with the caning in the seat, so I was unable to totally remove all of the caning. It is laced in and out of the holes around the edge of each chair. I just cut out the middles and put in a large enough pot to fit over the edges so it would not fall through. I have three painted. One is a dark red, almost wine color, the blue one and a pale green/white one. I used the Vaseline technique to paint them so that some of the original wood would show through. I finished them with marine poly to hopefully keep down deterioration of the wood, but will need to cover them every couple of years with it. It was fun giving them a new life.

I keep some furniture outdoors that was meant to be on a covered porch. I have had it for 15 years and find that a fresh coat of outdoor paint every year keeps it from deteriorating. A yearly application of poly should preserve them nicely. It only takes me a day to paint and the fresh coat of paint always looks so nice and clean. Smiling

The barbed wire looks great right?
I would like to drill a hole in the top of the end posts for fencing ..and "float" those above
