No exercise for me today. I feel like my old muscles and joints need a day off to recuperate. I'm up to 204 minutes of exercise this week. That's good enough.

I'm thinking about shopping for shoes today instead of exercising. Hilarious!

If your mall is as big as ours and the parking is as bad, you'll get exercise shopping for shoes.

I'm not going to a big mall, but a New Balance store that apparently is in a little outdoor strip mall. I've never been there before- it's about 30 miles away. So it'll be on a long drive on the interstate, but no walking.

I seem to spend my life (and a lot of money) forever looking for the perfect, comfortable shoe.

Back from the 2 hour exercise walk with Lily dog. We went 3 1/2 miles. My legs can really feel it now.

Just back from a walk that was about 5 km. We walked a bit more than an hour along the Ottawa River on a gorgeous morning. Started out with 8 of us, but some escaped at the half-way point.

Good luck with finding comfortable shoes. I've found New Balance good, but every couple years they change their styles and the successor to the one I have been wearing doesn't always fit as well; so when I find a really good one, I buy several pairs. I DO wish they would make shoes that would fit my really narrow foot in some colour other than white.

I had no luck at the New Balance store but bought a pair of Brooks from the running store where I usually buy my shoes. I'm testing them.

The bad new is that I had a severe leg cramp at about 2 a.m. and another at 6 a.m. and it just won't relax. You can feel a lump in the side of my leg. When I have one this bad it usually stays tight and painful for about a week. So I doubt that I'll be doing any exercise this week. Sad

Ann, you are really doing well with your walks, I miss being able to walk. Sighing!

Karen, hope you like the Brooks, I have had only one pair and they didn't work for me. I used to like Reebok until they changed the style.

It is funny how we never hear of something and then all of a sudden the name is everywhere.

Never heard of brand Brook..but googled "best trail running shoe for rocky terrain " -- up it popped.
Son visited last night..he said he found a pair of Brooks on Ebay he was bidding on (he pays full price for NOTHING!) ..now today, ai read this. That happems all the time with multiple things.

Karen, I hope that your cramp goes away and that you have good luck with your shoes. My problem with shoes is that often I have to wear them for 20 minutes or more before I know if they will be good. By then, you can't return them. I got my last pair from Shoebuy.com. I actually have had good luck buying shoes online, but I wouldn't recommend that to you, Karen. The last pair I got was the exact same brand and style as the previous pair. I was surprised that they still make them. They just didn't make the same color, which was no biggie. I did have a tendency to get rubbing on the right instep, but now I wear heavy wool socks and don't have a problem. It works all right to wear wool socks here, even in the summer because feet make up such a small part of the body.

We went for a walk today. I also did some watering, which isn't exercise, just standing, but it was good to get it done. I do my watering in 5 phases. Monday is the biggest phase.

Yes, the same for the store where I buy my shoes. They ask you not to wear them outside during that time, but they will take returns. In fact, I've never seen a store that wouldn't.

I sometimes buy shoes online simply because I need wide widths and those are hard to find in stores. Zappos price includes both shipping and return shipping. Can't beat that.

I've taken two muscle relaxants for my leg. I'm so sleepy from them! I need a nap.

Karen, I hope the cramp doesn't last too long and you will soon be good to go. I have been having cramping in my feet and toes, and sometimes at night I can feel the calf muscles start to knot, so far I have been able to stretch it out, it is so annoying. Angry

Yes, my foot was involved, too, pulling by toes in different directions. I roll my feet on a tennis ball to massage them. I just can't stretch my leg out. I can actually feel a big lump there in my calf. It's like the muscle stays in a tetanic state. Very painful, even hot to touch.

It does sound awful and I bet after that lump goes..the tenderness is still there...and the toes pulling THAT hurts..I HATE it when it happens. That only happens when I wear a heel (even a low one ) with a narrow toe. I am sorry that you get these regularly.
