I've noticed some dogs never bury their food, while others do it all the time. One of our dogs would bury all of his food under our sofa cushions if he couldn't get outside!

I had a breakthrough with George this morning.
First I put a warm sweater on Jack. George was watching.
Then I took the big comfy sweatshirt (that belongs to Jack )and showed it to George. He perked up, allowed me to lay it across his back and...here comes the good part..."helped" me to put his front leg into the sleeve. We had a bit of trouble communicating how to put the other front leg in but he didn't bite, snarl, growl or get testy. I'll try again tomorrow with a camera close at hand just in case.

Yesterday morn I gave the Chi sisters a chicken wing part each. Guess they weren't hungry...as they didn't take it while I was watching. Few minutes later they were gone so I assumed they ate them.
Well, we have been limiting BabyK's food intake since she is losing her hour-glass figure so she was separated from the sisters at the time. Later, when she got back together with the sisters I heard a commotion in the patio. BabyK found one of the chicken wing parts and was eating it. There's a patch of dirt and grass in one corner of the patio and I think Essy had buried the wing there. I know definitely that BabyK dug it up...she had dirt and grass debri under her paws' nails.

Maybe I should make like easter egg hunt and hide the chicken parts in different locations for the Chi's to find? Now that's an idea.

Weedwhacker said:Cat nail trimming day here this morning... Kinja only tried to bite me twice, while I was trying to clip her funky extra-toe nail. She has extra toes on both front feet, and the right paw has a nail that grows from a kind of nonexistent toe between 2 of the other toes; years ago it actually grew around and started growing into the pad of her paw, had to take her to the vet for that one. Ever since then I've been very diligent about keeping it trimmed down (as you can imagine). Not too long ago, when I took the cats to the vet for shots the vet looked at their feet and asked me if I clip their nails; she then related an incident where someone had recently brought their cat it, which had been limping for several months. It had a nail that had grown around and WAY into one of the pads ... the vet was really pissed off that the poor cat had that going on for so long without being taken care of.
Then later on it was such a beautiful day that we took a ride along Lake Michigan, down to Marinette Wisconsin; on the way (in Menominee, MI), we saw a woman walking the cutest, tiny little Sheltie, wearing a backpack jacket (the dog, not the woman). Would have liked to have taken a photo of that! The lake is still wide open, but I have a feeling that with the below-zero temps we're supposed to have for a few days coming up. that's going to be changing. Oh well, by then it will be nearly mid January -- can't complain about that!
Greene, your mention of laying the sweatshirt on George's back made me laugh -- DH likes to tease our cat, Kinja, by laying a sock across her back -- which causes her to immediately collapse as though it was a brick or something. One more thing I need to get a photo -- or video -- of!

Baby K was determined to get the food.
You're a good pet mama Sandy. Continuing on that subject I've seen so many dogs in my life that had nails so long that it threw off their walking putting undue stress on the big pad & the toes were all curved up on top. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
