Greene, how long does Lucky have to use that cone? Is that from neutering, or is there something else that I've forgotten?? I've never had a pet that had to have a cone after being spayed or neutered...

I sure could use some raincoats for the collies, though... nothing like a long-haired dog getting soaking wet and then coming into the house Rolling my eyes.

The vet said 14 days more or less; just until the next check-up. Lucky was neutered and de-clawed but I don't know which procedure required the cone.

The funny thing is that the cone messes up Lucky's hearing. I call "Lucky!!!" and the cat looks behind him to see where the sound is coming from. We will both be happy when the darn thing is gone.

Our kids are such characters! The Chi sisters were in the other room when I heard noises coming from there. So I raised my voice to be heard and demanded, "What's going on in there?" Essy immediately ran out of the room and went out into the patio, leaving Chichi to face the music! Rolling on the floor laughing

I forgot about the declawing -- I think maybe that's the reason. Funny about the hearing thing ... but I can see where that could kind of mess with the sound waves!

Aww...poor baby Lucky! Will be all better soon. Lovey dubby

I think I myself have a hearing thing...there's wide open spaces and the breezes move the sound waves around. When I think a sound is coming from one direction, it's actually coming from another (at least that's what my hubs tells me). No, I don't wear a cone, much less a lampshade! I had an appointment for Lily at the vets today so that is where we went.

Lily's vet appointment took a long time but we are back home now. As soon as we got home and she got her coat off she ran around with one of her toys playing. But the appointment must have been stressful for her as when she heard a dog barking in the next room she peed on the exam room floor. This after the vet tech had taken her weight but before the vet came in.

So her weight is 11 pounds 12 ounces and it used to be 11pounds 8 ounces. I figgure all that walking makes more muscle as Lily really is not fat.

Lily had two minor "surgeries" while she was there. She had the tick head removed and she also had a small embedded burr or something on her leg. They put numbing cream on and really this was no big deal but of course she is a complete baby about it. But was fine as soon as it was done.

Then she got her Lyme Vac and in 3 weeks needs to come back to get the second Lyme shot.No way to know if she was exposed to Lyme and as the vet said even if it was a Lyme tick doesn't mean she would get Lyme. So just watch. Blood test not helpful until at least two months from now for anything to show up. So we will wait.

So all my worry because if what it said on the internet about the vaccine causing Lyme. Apparently so in the old Fort Dodge vaccine. Vet said it did sometimes cause Lyme and they stopped using it long ago. Now using the Lyme Vac which she assured me was very safe.

So that was Lily's day. We did not go for an exercise walk as it really is extra cold outside. It was 22 on my side of the house thermometer when we got got home.

My cat Lucky will go to the vet tomorrow for a quick check up - and the ugly old cone will be removed. Hurray!

Probably you were able to get those nail cause of the cone. Maybe you need to save it for nail clipping time? I always wrapped my cats up in a big towel like a burrito each time nails needed to be done and only left the foot to be worked on out. Then I sat on the cat and went to work. Good to hear Rita.

@luvsgrtdanes - Had a news story on ABC tonight, learned a Great Dane won Service Dog of the Year at that big dog show, I instantly thought of you. It was in a concluding story featuring the little girl the Great Dane helps and to put a smile on the audience's face, that it did!

LOL, big day for Rita too, I think! I'm glad the whole tick thing is pretty much resolved now, Rita; worrying about stuff is usually so much worse than actually getting it taken care of.

Greene, just keep working with Lucky to cut his nails, and give some treats afterward each time. My cats are both really good about it (except for one really weird nail that Kinja has -- she has extra toes on her front paws and has a very funky nail that's hard to access, so DH usually holds her for me while I do that one. (I bought one of the actual "cat nail clipper" things, which works like a scissors, but found that using a human toenail clipper with rubber on the top handle part for a better grip works much better for me.) Ziggy is especially good, likely because I've had him since he was pretty young.
