Snow is still here. Yuck. Glad we will be getting away from it, even tho this is "only" the first snow of the season and there will be much, much more to come before spring. *sigh*

I'm grumpy because I stopped at the dealership to check on my mini cooper and they told me it had been ruled a total. I haven't heard from the insurance company so I guess they are on my list of people to bug. I don't know what I want to do about a car, I'm tempted to just keep driving my jeep in the winter and Mimi's honda in the summer but that leaves a) her without AC in the summer and b)me without music in the winter. IDK. I'm looking at cars in parking lots again. I will probably have to explain myself to the police soon as a car stalker.

I'm even more grumpy because we now have ants falling into the bed in our bedroom, it was the guest room they were in before. We had to move to the guest room last night late, including making the bed since my son had just left the night before. We need to get back up and into the light fixtures in the room now and see if they have moved their little ant highway to our room. Mimi thinks they are coming from the mattress though. ugh! Good thing I found a mattress I like at Liverpool yesterday and the salesman told me that they would all be on sale 15% off on Friday so I'm going back and buying it then. Now to get the old one out of the house, especially if it is full of ants. There is a number you can call and the city will pick up things like mattresses and if they are still good they will donate them to the poor. I'm not sure I want to donate a mattress that might have ants in it, got to really check it out first.

Neighbor Dana noticed a line of ants walking on the water line that goes to my outdoor sink. I said the pipe keep their feet from getting dirty. Well, heck, they seem to be staying outside so I'm just grateful.

It's been a grumpy day. working on getting the back bedroom cleared. I worked some yesterday; Tony did some today. I had a bad stomach ache until mid-afternoon, then I did some work. Anita will be here tomorrow and maybe the three of us can make major progress towards getting ready for the new floor.

Joanna, what can I say. As Gilda Radner put it, "There's always something." Couldn't we just have a nice boring day once in a while.

I still need to deal with the awful immigration man. Just the thought brings on another stomach ache.

Sugar got spayed the other day. We think they may have used more anesthetic than necessary; she's been zonked since and it's now about three days. She's getting better and is eating but we're going to wait until she's all better before she goes to her new home.

Katie -- are you still dealing with "the immigration man" about your lost documents? I'm hoping that will all go better than you're anticipating Crossing Fingers!

Poor Sugar -- like people, our pets all have different reactions to meds; some get so stressed and hyper that it takes more sedation/anesthetic than usual, and then they really crash once things are over with. At least this way she isn't overdoing the activity after her surgery. Smiling

Not grumpy but a bit annoyed with myself.
I just had to attach a battery charger to my vehicle, left the lights on.
It is 20F right now with a wind driven light snow, all I had on was blue jeans a light shirt and a vest.
With having to scrape the metal clamps for good connection and dig out the cords and charger I was out there for a at least twenty minutes.
As I right this my fingers still are showing signs of near frost bite and my arms feel like they have a cold pack on them.

Now I could have dug out gloves and put on a jacket, but it is much harder to near impossible to work on a car with gloves, I know this from experience but still stupidity has just rewards.
As the cold weather goes on, such excursions in under dressing actually become less annoying as you do adapt but this early on I should have known better.

Katie, did you lose your permanent immigration visa? I thought I lost my wallet in Cuba one day, we ended up finding it under the bed. In the meantime though I was a mess, and the part that made me the most nervous was the paperwork and BS I would have to go through to replace the visa. I have heard that when they replace them now you no longer get one that is permanent but one that has to be renewed every 2 years. I was in such a state. I had cleared almost all my credit cards and such out of the wallet before we left, taking only one debit and credit card from a Canadian/Mexican bank (Scotia) that works in Cuba. So, I figured I had one afternoon at the bank to fix that, but then maybe weeks or months to fix the visa. I was soooo happy when we found my wallet. I had taken a nap and it had fallen out of my pocket and gotten kicked under the bed.

As for the mattress, my old one was from Costco and was a foam/memory foam. The new one is a Sealy from a department store here, Liverpool, and pretty much the same combo. The old one lasted about 9 years so that seems a reasonable life to me, I don't know. What my worker is telling me is that the ants were not inside the mattress after all but on the floor and going up the bed skirt and into the box springs. He sprayed the box springs and the floor and the walls and the hole in the concrete steps that lead into the bedroom where they were coming out. Hopefully by the time the new mattress gets here we'll have them gone. I think they said it was a 15 day process for order and delivery.

I remember moving from FL to Va. Never been out of fl. Besides the trees with no leaves, and the inside of your nose drying out and bleeding, I never could get used to being so chilled, I could stand in a shower so hot it would turn me red, but I was still stone cold inside. It was a brutal summer, so right now we are enjoying some pretty awesome weather. It will get cold friday night, but then back up in the 70's the next day.

I never lived north of Starkville, MS, the home of the Mississippi State University Bulldogs............and never wanted to. Seeing your statements, my choice has apparently been the right one. We will be getting an early season hard freeze by the end of the week (at or near 20 F) and it appear that this cold will persist for four days. We'll get into the teens later in the winter and these temps., though fairly mild for y'all up north, is plenty cold for me.

I am grumpy because my internet mailbox gathers all these solicitations...each has an "unsubscribe" ( I think that is a law) ..but never in the same place...some are two step...some have a guilt in delay from the theme the keystroke is engaged...all to make it difficult. Some require a response about WHY we want to unsubscribe ..or make us READ a "SORRY TO SEE YOU GO" message....

Why must I unsubscribe to something I am VERY sure I never subscribed to??! And WHY after 3 months does it reappear?

Not earthshaking...but grumpy making!
