Washed it last night and there was still discoloration, so I sprayed with tide stain remover and soaked in warm water in the washer over-night and then did a quick rinse cycle and started the cycle to re-wash this morning when I left for work. When Matt gets home from checking in on base around 11:00 he is going to take it out and check it. Hopefully the rest of it will be gone Crossing Fingers!

Good moves. I hope it will be fine when Matt checks on it. A product I use is OxiClean for stain removal. It works very well for me. It's a powder available in the detergent aisle of grocery stores.

Karen, I have you beat on the easy route. I'm just in from dinner down the block at a house of friends; all I had to do was tote a bottle of wine. Smiling

Prime rib tonight, with a delicious salad starter. Beats & turnips (pretty dish), and mushrooms were the sides. Diced mango on pound cake with whipped cream topping was dessert. I went easy with the portion sizes lest my winter insulation gets so inflated that kids confuse me with Santa. Delightful company, good eats and good wine made for a very fine time.

That sounds wonderful, Sean. I'm thinking of doing Prime Rib for New Years, but turkey might win out. We had ham for Christmas.

We love ham too. For many years I have been making a fluffy mustard sauce to put on the ham, and it works really well with ham sandwiches too. It's mustard, vinegar, butter and horseradish, and after it's cooled whipped cream is folded in.

It really is, and it keeps well so you can have it as long as the ham lasts.

Fluffy Mustard Sauce

Recipe By : Better Homes and Gardens in the 1960's
Serving Size : 4
Categories : Sauces

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
---- ---- ----
2 egg yolks -- beaten
1 tablespoon sugar
3 tablespoons prepared mustard
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon water
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1/2 cup whipping cream -- whipped

In a small pan, mix the egg yolks slightly, then add sugar, mustard, vinegar, water and salt. Mix well; cook over hot(not boiling) water, stirring til mixture thickens- about 4 or 5 minutes. Remove from heat and blend in the butter and the horseradish. Cool thoroughly in refrigerator. Fold in the whipped cream til the color is consistently yellow and not streaky.

Up until about 10 -12 years ago, we always put a whole ham on the webber. Scored with cloves and fat...caramelized with the sauce. It was hand down, my favorite. Then came the era where everything is ultra trimmed. I have not been able to find a ham, with fat on it, in 15 years. So depressing.

I do have a whole ham in the fridge. No fat. Have no idea what to do with it, but old habits die hard. My husband likes to grind it and make sandwiches.

I agree Pam, when they took away the fat, they took away a lot of the flavor in pork. These days you have to cook it very carefully so that it doesn't get dry.

They must use and sell that fat. I remember I LOVED it..it was not soft and awful like steak fat...it was good eatin' fat!

Pork chops that actually has some fat on them, sauteed kale with onion, garlic, red pepper, celery, a little mustard, and a good sprinkle of red pepper flakes, and simple microwaved corn. Lots of fiber tonight. Blinking Hilarious!

Pam -- Can't remember where I got it but about four years ago I ordered a ham on-line that came old-school style. Might be worth doing an internet search. Of course, it'll be way too late for holiday season this year, but there always seems to be other occasions.

The DO had purchased some chicken thighs a bit ago that, unfortunately, came boneless and skinless. We tend to like them complete. However, once floured, dipped, breaded (panko) and baked, they were just fine. Another old school trick, and one I know I learned from my mother. Sides included a shared baked potato, roasted carrots and onions, and mushroom gravy. A bit of a yawn, but still quite good.
