Rita, how do you fix your meatballs and potatoes? Are they mixed? Are the meatballs in a spaghetti sauce or??? Sounds easy, that's what piques my interest. Smiling
Karen

I buy premade meatballs at the local supermarket deli department. They are in a red sauce but it's not a spaghetti sauce.

Then I simply boil potatoes and serve both side by side. Pretty simple.

Margaret, I agree on the shots. All lovely. Nice touch with the deer in the avatar.
Rita, meat and potatoes just go together. Not all that odd in my book either.

Long cooked beef short ribs cooked with a mix of veggies, shitake mushroom and extra garlic added at the end. Good tasting sauce (both beef broth and red wine for the liquid). Served it over egg noodles. Lightly sautéed spinach and garlic finished with a touch of vinegar served on the side. We returned to the cab.sauvignon we've been liking of late. Nice way to end a nice day.

Here we'll keep Christmas up until Epiphany. Buying the fresh tree later in the season helps minimize the needle loss. I do like the look, the lights, the smell.

Dinner was very good, nice tender lamb, cooked to perfection, medium rare the way we like it. Hurray!

Sean, your dinner sounds delicious. Drooling I haven't had short ribs for quite awhile.

One of my favorite recipes on earth, is a short ribs dish out of the Silver Palate cookbook. It has all those ingredients you mentioned, and is heaven. A pain to make enough, dont do it often, but yummy. Love that cookbook in general.

We had Wendy's. Im whooped cooking wise. That whole ham is still sitting.

Stuffed cabbage and roasted Brussels sprouts. Plus chicken soup. All home made at the upscale market, not by me!! Hilarious!

I also got already made meat loaf and white meat sliced turkey. Yummy, no cooking needed for the next three days.

On the desert front two Dunkin Donuts jelly donuts.

Very nice, Margaret. Leftovers rate high in my book.

Dinner on the lighter side here. Onions are slowly simmering. They are destined to become French onion soup. I even remembered to by the gruyere. We'll have salad, too, with either anchovies or sardines, or both. Now that the holidays are over, I need to go easier with the hope that the next size of pants isn't in my near future... although with thanks to Ronnie, cheesy burgers with jalapeños are in the head. *Blush*

Sean the burgers were really good, and that's saying a lot since I am the worst burger maker ever Shrug!

BBQ chicken in the crockpot, buttered skinny noodles, corn and asparagus. Still plenty of cookies in the freezer for dessert.

I love it too IF there is not that big soggy bread at the bottom and IF the cheese is crispy burnt around the edges.

It's been so long I don't remember how the bread tasted. Hilarious! Maybe if I get ambitious I will make it soon. Whistling

The soup was a winner. I think the trick to the non-soggy bread in the onion soup is to crisp up a side of it before adding it to the soup. The bread just floats so none sulking or soggy on the bottom. Finishing under the broiler get the cheese nicely browned. I could eat onion soup several days a week in the winter.

As for the latest... I know what you mean, Rosie. It's so disappointing when you have a dinner out that you know you do much better at home.

Tonight, it was dinner for one after a late lunch, and was more about picking than eating. I heated up a touch of the vegetable-noodle-beef mix leftover from our short rib meal with the addition of some asparagus spears and hot pepper flakes. Had that with toast on the side. Also picked on some fruit salad, and a few pretzel nuggets.

I threw out the last slice of apple pie that sat forgotten in the back of the fridge. Good thing I'm not much for desserts for if I were, this season I definitely would have gone from "beginning to show," to "looking like twins at 8 months." I still have cookies and candies to give away. The groups meeting at church are soon to find goodie packages.

Sean, do you have a good recipe for the onion soup? I'm all ears!

We had stove top bbq chicken legs, ActiFry home style potatoes, and haricots verts with sweet onion and red pepper.
