Terri, That is what I would like my Plant list to be like. I also have un-named plants like Iris #2 light lavender with a picture of it. In my ODG Journal I am hoping to be able to do that here. Haven't looked into it that far yet.

The Plant List is pretty cumbersome for noids because it doesn't let you add things to your list that aren't in the plant database. It is about the only thing that I think is truly lacking. It is on the list of improvements that Dave wants to make, but I'm not sure when he will get to it. The way I've been handling noids is by using the generic plant db entry. You can add your photo to the generic iris entry in the plant db, and then I think it will be the one that shows in your own plant list. It gets clunky when you have several different iris noids though - you can't add the same generic iris plant db entry multiple times to your list, so all your noids have to be associated with just the one entry. There was some discussion on the site talk forum about this and the ways that people were trying to make it work for them, but I don't remember the specifics. I think some people were just picking different cultivar plant db entries so that they would have one entry per noid in their list and then putting something in the comments section about it really being a noid and not the named cultivar. Like I said, kind of clunky and I really hope Dave gets to that enhancement one of these days.

Black Creek Greenhouse - 211 E Black Creek Rd, East Earl, PA 17519

A coworker is from that area and said that there are many great nurseries in and around Lancaster - that was just one of them!

Another one that she mentioned as being fantastic is Lurgan Greenhouse - I think this is the one she meant 8126 Oakdale Rd, Orrstown, PA 17244 - which is just north of Hagerstown, i.e. more west than Lancaster.

why didn't I know about these great PA nurseries when my DD was in school that area Whistling

Went to GIta's neck of the woods today, hit Chapel Hill and Md Flower and Foliage. Both had four-packs of annuals, $2, flat of eight $12 o r 13. Chapel Hill had a huge variety of basils and widest variety of other herbs I've seen so far. I got several kinds if annuals, at MD FLower, and keen eyes got me Cherokee Purple, Celebrity, and Early Girl tomatoes, all $1.50 for 'single' potted plant that had two in each, happy two-fers.
Plant it and they will come.

I agree That's one improvement I'm hoping to see someday, too, Terri! I like how you've used the category feature--I don't think I've explored that option well enough. I have an Excel file of all my plants that I've kept over the years that contains lots of specific info I can sort by when I need certain kinds of info, but it's not ideal to track in both my excel file *and* in the plant list! Two things I really like about the plant list over my excel file: thumbnail photos for each plant (yay), and the opportunity to add specific event info--eg when something blooms.

Black Creek Greenhouse rocks! No more room in the car, however, should I find antique treasures at Renningers tomorrow. Gotta check out Lurgan Greenhouse. Must be on the way home. Heck, I'll give up legroom for plants.

Mike and I took a short road trip up to Lurgans this morning. Huge greenhouse, but sooooooo crowded. Plants were pricier than they were at Black Creek but still cheaper than what you find around here. I really don't do well with those kinds of crowds, especially in the tight quarters of the greenhouse aisles, and we didn't stay long at all. I'd definitely go back to Black Creek and would also like to explore some of the other nurseries in the immediate Lancaster area, but doubt I'd go back to Lurgans. When Jill and I were at Black Creek it was a Friday, which may or may not have been a factor in the reduced number of people that were there. I think any further trips I make to PA nurseries will have to be on weekdays.

Lisa, what did you get Green Grin!

I've been to Mt. Cuba and loved it. Woodland gardens Thumbs up I've wanted to get back there every year since that first visit, but it just hasn't worked out. Have I mentioned how much I want to retire to have free time to do all those kind of things when I want to do them LOL.
