RpR,
Our new theater has rockers and are so comfortable. Recline? I wouldn't like it but DH would. And yes, much more expensive. I'll still bring in candy for the grandkids and am not above slipping a water botttle down my sleeve. They don't allow bags carried in anymore either.

My sig. has a second purse that is used to carry in pop and candy.
I am still uncomfortable with it but when they jacked the price of popcorn up by fifty percent it stopped bothering me as much.

In my home town we have two theaters, the old original that used to have brothers near identical in other cities and the new megaplex piece of fecal debris.
The old theater is four twentyfive except for two dollar tuesday and the popcorn and pop is less than half of what is charged up here.
I get one free pass from my insurance man that includes a small pop and popcorn but they need business so I tell them give me the large pop and popcorn and pay the extra price.
The old theater still has the old seats, they spent money to fix the marquee, which is rarely lit up but now can be but did not have any where near the money for new seats.

RpR,
I am not ashamed to bring stuff in. I don't drink pop so I bring in water. We bring candy for the grandkids. They still get pop and popcorn. This is a ''cold'' multiplex with many other theaters. No hometown guys.
You are so kind to give yours the business.

Our theater gives free popcorn refills. I bring in a plastic/Walmart bag and they let me dump the first into the bag, and refill it right from the get go. That way Dh and I don't fight. He is nuts and hates butter on his popcorn. And since it is self-serve butter machines, I take his share of butter, my share and I am sure others' share of butter on my bag. It ain't right until the butter is seeping through the bottom! NOM! They never question the other bag of popcorn when I tote it in a non popcorn bag. Nor do they check my purse for the bottled water inside. But they DO question when I chose the handicap seats for my DH and I. That I DO appreciate. They just want to make sure that seat is "needed". A few times we have come in before they had assigned seats and there was no handicap seats for DH. I am glad they are monitoring that.

Woke up still consumed by last night's movie, Consumed! I am just SMH! Research has shown me it will be impossible to avoid GMO's and enjoy life as I know it as corn, soy and other GMO products are in practically everything we eat! Even white vinegar! gasp! While my body is fighting against the result of eating GMO's, there are babies and children being destroyed by GMO's today. I have warned my children in order to protect future grandchildren. At least my own kids have had a few "good" years of clean eating but they were not without allergy issues. From GMO I ate? Can't be sure. But it is a possibility. sigh Sighing!

I would not be too worried about eating GMO, or something that has GMO, I mean unless there is a form of acetic acid that is not CH3COOH vinegar is vinegar, but where a genuine problem could pop up is with disease and weeds.

When I used to regularily read a farm magazine the fact weeds were adapting quicker than expected to weed killers used in roundup ready GMO seed is not something that might happen is is already happening and there is concern.
At the same time Open Pollinated seeds have a natural ability to defend to a degree against many diseases, the new GMO types if the wrong disease hits could be simply wiped out and no way to stop it as they are they lack many traits of the old seed types.

This is far more of a problem that what consuming may cause, although I wonder if, and this is just wonder if, the GMO versions may not affect allergies in a different way.

I worry about GMO ingested in immature immune systems of, our babies, our babies' babies, our great-grandbabies, affects in the water supply, in the soil on our farmlands. I've resolved, there is little I can do but protect ourselves from harmful pesticides and protect my husband from other cancers. 2 is enough! We will strive eat clean and organic. I know it is not realistic in our lifestyle to be strict about it. I've read studies all day. Altering protein DNA only causes trouble in the human immune system. My body is wiring to hard, protecting me against GMOs as we speak. But why should it have to? I am not interested in bigger produce or produce to last and last in storage. I will take the value of produce as is, not wanting any alterations or vitamin enhancements.JMHO

I keep thinking about how we all ate mudpies, and snowballs when we were growing up. I realize that everything is different, but we even had acid rain, about 30 years ago (if I have the # of years wrong, forgive an old woman Whistling )
A young woman I know, had a very sick child and was always cleaning her home. Dr told her she was being TOO clean and her son's immune system was too low for that. She stopped being so frantic about cleaning and it worked - her son started getting better. Whistling

I gotta laugh sometimes. Here we are in the richest country in the world where food is plentiful and inexpensive. And someone says: I do not need a bigger Tomato or one that can be shipped further away. True perhaps but we don't just grow food for us, we grow food for the world. There is currently not enough food to go around globally. As the population grows our need for food will also, no question. How are we going to get that increased production? Gene

@gasrocks Gene, I respectfully ask that you not "laugh" at opinions when everyone has one. That "someone" in your post was obviously referring to me and my previous post where I said, " I am not interested in bigger produce or produce to last and last in storage. " I get to have my opinion on GMO as do you and would appreciate more a healthy discussion on the matter rather than condescending replies.

Not only that, Gene, I think our whole food chain has been contaminated while we weren't looking by additives and preservatives, sugars, salts, etc., to the point where it is not "food" any more. I cook a lot of things by scratch because it's more economic, not necessarily because it's "healthier" and still feel like I can't avoid all of the "stuff" they have added to our "food".

Cheryl ...

I've been researching growing veggies in containers for next spring. I am not going to be heating my home with wood going forward, so I won't be using my carport to store wood and plan to use it to grow vegetables in containers because the roof will work to block the direct sunlight that tends to burn vegetables in my garden.

I found this site has products that might be useful for my project and it has a lot of good information.

I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.
