There is a lot of green on this little guy. My camera changes greens to tan.

Did he really name that after the Stones Wild Horses? Sure hope so or it was the Osmond's Wild Horses. Oh but a difference there. (Though in defense of the Osmond's it was one of their better songs even though it was blasted by fans for being "rock").

This one is always a bit of a surprise. Some years its color is intense and some years it is very subdued.

For those who do not like dots, spots and freckles.... avert your gaze. I like this one a lot more than I thought I would. I think the yellow ground sets off the plum colored markings just right.

SDB Killarney Green, O. D. Niswonger, 2001-02

This is one of the first, if not the first, to bloom in my garden. However it is in three spots and the first to bloom is on a south facing slope. It is true that where they are planted and how much sun they get influences time of bloom.

This is a lovely iris. My photos do not do it justice. It is very pretty in the garden but in my photos it tends to blend into the background and it loses a bit of its charm. To really appreciate it you need to grow it.

Back story. Dear ATP friend went on a quest for this little iris. She bought two then learned it could be either this one or another one..... which I already grew. I decided it was going to be the correct one and planted it. Hers bloomed and it was not PF. She said she would go questing again then mine sent up a bloom stalk and Lo, it is Peach Frappucino. So she will get very first increase. Now how did this happen? A garden mystery. LOL

The color pattern is unique and it has a lot of blooms. Very nice little iris.

It was a mess, Tom. I felt like wailing as the hail was coming down. Irises survive anything I guess. I lost some first and only blooms but there is always next year. smiles....

Shout, A and D Willott, 1999-02




This one really does 'shout' from across the garden. You can't miss the bright white and dramatic blue/purple spot on the falls. The standards are a little bit too open for my taste but it makes up for that in sheer garden drama.

Violet Lass, Bennett Jones, 1984-85




This is an older one and did take a bit of a thrashing from a morning storm. It is one of my favorites and unique for its form. It has a full rounded bloom form and yet is one of a few SDB's still available that has the old 'dog ears' falls.

This one is bright and bold and a wonderful iris. It increases fast and has lots of blooms.
