Sorry, Lindsey. I'm out of the searching business until my computer is back and off the top of my head I don't recognize it.

It hasn't really done that well, this year. Weather? It has been giving me two or three spike at a time until recently. That's why I haven't taken pictures. It's not the only one...my Leptotes bicolor has been in bud forever, but is just now starting to open. Things have been much cooler than normal, which makes them last longer, but Oh the long wait. Sighing!

BIG question: Zygopetalum 'Blue Birds' or Zygonisia Cynosure 'Bluebirds'? I have Zygopetalum 'Blue Birds' which looks exactly like yours but the Cynosure seems to go with Zygonisia not Zygopetalum. Confused

Re we talking about the same plant?

Daisy, Zygonisia Cynosure is registered with the RHS.
Do you have a grex name for the Zygopetalum?

It is Zygonisia cynosure 'Blue Birds' The Zygopetalum 'Blue Bird(s?)' that Jim posted awhile back is different. I questioned that last year too. Very confusing.

There is a missing name on the Zygopetalum.
I checked Zygopetalum Blue Bird, Blue Birds and also Zygopetalum Bluebird, they are not registered. If you write Zygopetalum 'Blue Bird' you are missing the Grex name.
And Zygopetalum Cynosure is also not registered.
Hmm?

I am even more confused now. I am posting photos of mine. I thought I had something called Zygopetalum Bluebird but mine sure looks like yours. Maybe you can help.

since most of my plants came from either Kawamoto or H & R I sent them both emails with the photo

Reid Kawamoto sent back a note saying that he thought it might be C.hawaiian variable....looking on-line, I see some similarities...but for the life of me that name is not ringing any bells..either in my head or in my computers history... Blinking

I can only assume that Zygonisia is some kind of Zygopetalum cross. The 'Bluebird' was one word on the tag of my original one.

Looking through my records Zygonisia is Aganisia x Zygopetalum. I have no idea what Cynosure is, but your's looks just like mine.

That's were I went. Mine looks like yours. Or yours looks like mine. Smiling I am changing its tag.

Hello...my name is Mike. I have been growing orchids for awhile. I had a nice big collection back during the early 80s. Right before I got married in 1990 the heater in my greenhouse failed on a cold Georgia night. I lost all of my plants, but just a couple of cymbidiums. Then life happened, two beautiful children. So, now I am getting started back growing them. I have a few catts. that are a year or two from blooming. The rest are catts. seedling in 3 inch pots. I am wanting to buy flask or compots and grow them into a great growing state and then sale the seedlings in 2 to 3 inch pots. That is my dream anyway. Great growing to everyone. Hurray!
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Welcome, Mike! Welcome! We always enjoy greeting a new member. Would love to see pictures of your growing setup, and any blooms you might have - do you still have those cymbidiums? How about that greenhouse? There seems to be lots of competition in the commercial orchid growing business nowadays. You're pretty ambitious to want to grow from flask or compots for sale!

Ted, love that Max. picta, such a pretty little bloom, does it smell like coconuts too? The bog plant is really splendid.

Welcome! Mike and good luck with your project.

Jim, I was not familiar with the Trigger plant and had to look it up. There is some fascinating info out there on them but I got a kick out of this one, especially the part about the insect getting whacked. LOL
