Lots of beautiful blooms Ursula but that mini Vanda in the pot is the best!

Jim, congratulations and you will be great at it!!! I will ask my co-worker who attends the Tampa Orchid meeting to say Hello to you!

Ursula, what a lovely little Darwinara, the color, the shape, just everything, and do tell about that pot.

I was at Lowes the other day and they had Better Gro baggies again! I bought two Den lindleyi to replace the one that died a year ago. Then I posted to my MOS FB page and our club went over and pretty much cleaned them out! Rolling on the floor laughing

It has been a couple of years since I have seen them there so it was nice to see a comeback.

Nothing really blooming for me right now, but lots of spikes. Hoping for some good blooms very soon. Hurray!

Regarding the mini Vanda - this one came from Silva Orchids and they had it potted up in small Orchiata/small bark. The plant looked happy so far and so I left it alone.
You are looking at a plant with Neofinetia falcata in its parentage, so this one is just a slightly larger blue flowering Neofinetia hybrid.

http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticu...
And both parents are Neofinetia (renamed to Vanda) falcata hybrids.

I like these Neo hybrids, they are pretty and easily manageable. I keep them sunny in the greenhouse and during our Summer they are a bit protected in the cage and that corner blocks some of the noon time sun under a Cherry tree.

I agree. The little neo-Vandas do well for me too. They are much easier to care for than the big ones.

Finally home, and boy, does this humid air feel good! Can't wait to see what's going on out in the cage and garden but this one, Star Ruby 'Xanadu' hit me in the eye and nose when I went out the door even in the dark! In the first picture the two flowers were completely overlapped, and I couldn't quite figure out why that flower looked so big. Second pic I separated them so the dorsal sepal is sort of bent forward on the left one.

Welcome home Elaine!

I've been playing 'catch-up" with all the posts, and drooling all over my keyboard!

I have a few things going too:

This is Den. Yellow Song 'Canary' and a little keiki of it that I mounted a couple of years ago:

my little jewel orchid, ludisia discolor I believe:

These either belong to my friend Marisa or I took them at our Orchid Society meeting last month (before my batteries died at the worst time...we had some GORGEOUS plants and I could only capture a few. Grrrrr...)

Gorgeous, Patty! Let's be sure to go to the Orchid meeting on May 2nd? I will be home for sure then.

I didn't even remember buying this Den. superbum but here it is blooming for me after I exiled it to the garden for cold/dry treatment this winter. It has two nice new canes starting up, as well.

YES Elaine, for sure...I HAVE to go to this meeting because they are doing a re-potting thing and the pres said I could bring my baskets to sell! I think my son's friend is going to come so he can help me out with the containers of baskets...would you like to ride with us this time?

Isn't the Superbum the same as a Hono Hono and Den. Anosmum??? Mine is very confused this year because of the odd winter we had...only 2 canes made flowers and the others are all naked, AND it's already making it's new canes! The Cuculatta (I have to check the spelling of that) is the same kind of Dendrobium, just a different color, and it's very late this year but it is setting blooms along all the canes, with no new canes forming yet!

I think I need to catch up here, you all were busy , busy!! Thumbs up

Patty, what you call Ludisia discolor is not Ludisia discolor, but... I grew that plant many years ago, check out Ledebouria socialis.
Nice show, your Dendrobium anceps has a lot of blooms/ growth! Thumbs up

Elaine, nice blooms on your Den superbum!

According to Kew Den anosmum and superbum are the same and they are the Honohono Orchid. And they smell awesome!!
