About 3 years ago a DG's sent me a bunch of seed of Joan Derifield crosses of which I have many seedlings from. None has bloomed yet as I have been in a very LONG learning process. They should next year as I think I may finally know what I am doing. We learn by our mistakes and wipping all those tears. I also have a few others that had 1 parent but the other unknown and I anxious to see them too as are from a good pod parent.

This was taken in too much light...it's really darker than this.

It was one of my first daylilies Mike, in the late 90's. Munson hybridized some real great plants, nothing as fancy as the ones now but sometimes these older plants make the best garden additions! I will be going back to some of my older pictures and see if I can't pick up a few of my favorites again, as they are so garden worthy.

Wanted Lily Munster just for the name. And because it is more affordable for me than Grandpa Munster Back in another lifetime, I was working at a grocery deli. There was a dinner theatre across the street (the old Cowboys practice field, too, but that's another story). Al Lewis was in a play and came over before a performance. Of course, I recognized him. And was smiling all over to see him. Me, this 20-year-old, socially backward, uneducated deli worker got to slice a quarter pound of Big Eye Swiss cheese for GRANDPA MUNSTER! Never forgotten how charming he was. Or how pleased he was to be addressed as Mr. Lewis rather than Grandpa.

Sorry for the OffTopicTalk. Even nearly 35 years later, I still love that memory.

I got Lily Munster this spring and I only got a few blooms from it but I sure can't wait to see it bloom next year. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous.
