I find it very hard to believe this Rosularia chrysantha has not a speck of rot after all this wet weather. It seems quite happy.

Janice I might be able to send a start to you if you can't find one locally. What are your summers like?

Oh, Lynn, you are too sweet! Lovey dubby

They can be hot, but my semps are on the cooler side of the property. And I keep them in pots so I can move them around.

I swear when I put them in the ground, something was eatting them.... Angry

Voles, squirrels? Did you get any photos of the damage? Or surrounding area for clues?

Yes, the Rosularia would do very well in a container, that way you can move them around until you find the perfect spot to make them happy, Hurray!

Mine is in all day sun, but we don't have the high humidity along with high temps, like you do. We are quite dry in the summer (low humidity).

I know they call it the Humid South and that was what we were expecting when we moved here.

But I can honestly say (the whole family concurs), it is far less humid here than it was in Massachusetts!!!

Summers in Mass are unbearable, humidity-wise.

We have never experienced that here, so I would say it is a hot, dry heat here.

Could have been voles or squirrels,.................. they simply disappeared! No clues at all!

So went to pots and have not lost any. Smiling Smiling

My SIL lives in Denver, the squirrels eat hers. : (

I have a squirrel that visits and digs in the beds, but he has never eaten the semps. I think we have so much else that he finds more palatable than my semps. Thumbs up

Lynn, I'll have to check on that when we get a thaw and things start to grow. Minor snow cover at the moment.

Janice, Are you sure you weren't having a triffid problem? The young ones can masquerade as semps and relatives and like all youngsters, including humans, have the ability to move quickly when you are not looking. The height of the pots can sometimes be an obstacle and slow them down, which would explain the decline in losses.

Let me know twit, if not I can send you some.

I completely forgot about Trifids. *Blush* Seems the Slugo (the one safe around children and pets) I had been putting out for the slugs must be toxic to Triffids, as I am finding no signs of them this year. Hope they don't build up a resistance to it. Blinking

Ah, Twitch, those triffids were most likely the culprits!

That explains their sudden disappearance perfectly! Hilarious! Big Grin Rolling on the floor laughing

At some point we really should put together a manual on how to rid our gardens of the dreaded Triffids. Whistling

And it was sold to me as a Rosularia. Sad
Well now I know why it was so different from my others. I will move it next spring as it has not done well in that location. I planted it as I would my other rosularia.
Made the correction in above post. Thumbs up
Thank you Lori.

Wolfgang, what a treasure of a plant. I don't think we have them available in the United States.
