I returned and all the peonies are doing well and none have opened yet. Sort of disappointed as I really thought one or two might do so. That's okay. My one tree peony (new fall of 2014 - moved this spring) is doing well, sending up more shoots form the ground and growth from the remaining hard wood stem. I trimmed it back hard as much of the old wood had died. I will for sure protect it this winter and next spring to assure our late frosts don't blast both flowers and leaf buds. Just want it to get healthy this year.

Thank you very much, Liz and Tracey. It is getting hot here now so I think my peony season is going to speed up. Most peonies are showing buds that are ready to open. And I have yet done with disbudding the side buds to take cuttings for storage.

I went to visit my Mom over the weekend. Here are some photos of the 'Pink Pom Pom' I sent her from Gold City a few years ago. It hadn't opened yet, but she will have a great display with all these buds.
I weeded her garden for her, and we had a great time. I have been gardening all my life because of her.

What greater gift for a gardener than a good weeder! I bet she appreciated that. Those Pink Pompoms are going to be spectacular!

Yes, Tracey, she is 81 and doesn't have the strength she used to have. I bought her a nice lightweight cart at Aldi's. She loved it.

I just looked at 'Etched Salmon' posted on another thread. Here is mine. Do you think I got a true ES?

Nice rich color on yours! The form and flecks of gold look correct, and I imagine the deep color is just due to weather when it opened.

Thanks, Neal. The others ' photos seemed to be more cupped with more petals.
I'm just glad mine finally bloomed. It seems to be a slow grower.
