Astarte, a Saunders peony that is a "Quadruple hybrid: Albiflora, officinalis, Macrophylla, Mlokosweitschi" gives two beautiful buff yellow blooms this year. This peony was purchased from Gilbert Wild and planted last fall. So glad that I got the correct peony.

'Hermione' opened after bringing it inside. One of the largest blossoms of all my peonies. 7 inches in diameter. 'Chestine Gowdy' is very similar but not in full bloom yet.

Wow, that is gorgeous! I hope mine will bloom as nice as yours, Jerry. There is a bud on my Hermione this year! Does it smell good? Old House Gardens rated it as one of the best fragrant peony.

Hermione has fragrance but much less than Fragrans. Chestine Gowdy also has fragrance about equal to Hermione. I chose mostly fragrant peonies when I purchased them through Tracey's co-op in 2010.

Jerry, thanks for posting that photo of Hermoine. Mine is all pink and I was worried about it.

If you look deep inside the petals of Hermione, there should be some yellow or gold. Not nearly as much as Lavon but it is clearly visible. At least that is the way my Hermione is. It came from Hollingsworth in 2010 so I assume it is true to name.

Thanks Jerry, I will check for that.
I found another peony opened yesterday that isn't true to name and I am getting depressed about it.
Here is ' Nellie Shaylor' from A & D peonies Fall 2014. Not even the right color. Thumbs down

It's pretty, whatever it is, LG. I had to look up Nellie Shaylor, you are absolutely right! Have you contacted them about it? They should either credit your account or send the correct one this fall. I've never tracked whether the peonies I got from them are correct, never heard of them sending the wrong ones before. Maybe I'll check my pics against online pics this spring....

I think A&D is pretty reputable. I am sure they will make it right. Especially with the volume you purchase.

I only have one that hasn't even started growing. It is usually the last and that is Border Charm. I have to check historical growth dates as I am getting just a touch worried. Not even a little red pip? Sad And it is so pretty. Like Garden Treasure but smaller and the plant is definitely draping. Blooms it's head off when it gets going.

Each day I look I am sure I will see either someone about to pop open in bloom. Soon.

Liz and Mary,
I am going to take a photo today in daylight. I have one more that I got from them that is not looking like their photo also. So I will wait for it to bloom out.

Jerry, your Lavon is my type of peony!! I bought one last Fall, but I don't believe that it has a bud.

Liz I have been waiting for pics from Henry's garden. I can't imagine how beautiful it is!!
