Lori, I ran across this one thinking I had found a match for your old yellow/cream historic (not a match).. But I'm thinking this looks like 'Miss California'

@muddymitts this one stands 4 foot tall this year!

Only $60 for the year? Blinking That's what my service charge alone is every three months....and that's not including the water bill. $60 is my "water rights".

It's muddy water from the reservoir Not city water and only turned on April - September.

Sometimes it comes out of the sprinklers into the garden with bug bits, fish guts and all. That's what I pay $60 dollars for.
They don't charge me on top of paying the $60 water rights for the reservoir water.

I have a completely separate bill for the house culinary city water.

But I don't live in California. I have heard from folks that California is the worst place to farm because they regulate everything to death and charge you an arm and a leg on top of it.

I only get untreated canal water that is sometimes muddy (and stinky) and clogs the sprinkler heads. I also pay for Alhambra to be brought to the house for drinking and cooking.

Well... I'm sorry they are billing you for stinky water. I know my reservoir water has actually been drinkable as everyone drinks it occasionally ... as long as you don't mind that you might get a little extra protein and mineral water with it.

Honestly mine looks pretty clean. Never smells.

Perhaps you should come to Utah but then alot of your plants would die.

She did ID this as Miss California, I just missed the info somewhere along the line. At least the big beauty has a name now. Hurray! Hurray!

Love this one. I sold too much this year then lost a lot to rot, but have two small rhizomes left. May not see another bloom till 2018.
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

Oh no Gabe. I had troubles too. I didn't cut down the oriental poppies in the pic when done blooming and they were smothering them. They'll survive, but are a bit stunted, too. I am very fond of those irises since I chose them based on my son's name. I thinned out my poppy "bush" so it doesn't happen again.

Miss California and Golden Russet both got really, really tall this year. Others were really, really short while others still were in between. Weird year!!!

Yep, that was Lori... Mine was tall, but not 4'... If I sing to the Iris, I don't know I'm doing it, but then I don't know what I'm doing half the time anyway..

Just got back from a music festival up in Mendocino county.. My HIPS box was waiting in the mailbox when we got home... I guess I've got a little more potting to do... Just glad I got caught up before we left...
