This little guy is an SDB and I used him in
several crosses. Pre 2003.
For your SDB I would check out Pippi Longstockings. It has the white beard with yellow at the throat, and the spot that doesn't cover the entire fall. There is some variation with the spot if you review all the database pics, but I think yours falls within the range.
Name: Bonnie Sojourner Harris Brake Lake, Arkansas (Zone 7a) Magnolia zone
One thing I have noticed about Pipi Longstockings, in my garden and in all the photos I have seen, is the light line that runs from the beard through the burgundy spot on falls to the light colored rim.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?
Name: Jan Wax Mendocino County, N. CA (Zone 9a) I'm a semi-retired studio potter.
I have Bravery. and like it a lot. So I ordered another from a vendor and when it bloomed this is what
I got. Definitely not Bravery, but it was pretty. Can anyone i.d. it?
Jan - Have you looked through the vendors website or catalog? That would at least eliminate some of the choices, since there are several irises that have that pattern.

These irises have been in my family for quite some time, passed on from one generation to the next. Unfortunately the names have disappeared with the winds of time.

Nah -- it's the angle of the photo, Leslie. Mine has the entire line. Another photo:

I think the yellow looks more like "Coronation". "C" often shows some purple "flecking" on the haft areas....in colder climates....but the hafts in warmer situations are clean. There are tons of yellows and they can be tricky to ID. The best anyone can do...from pictures alone...is say "It "looks" like . In order to say , 'It IS !", takes a lot more information and time .
