Is bloom out when the mother gives her all and doesn't make increases? I've seen the term before and am not sure.

Celia - yes. And it is sad to see. My I'm Dreaming appears to have done that this year. Bummer.

I agree. I know I will order it again. Right now it is just a rhizome in a pot that I am willing to grow increases!

When mine bloom out they still live but the next year is used for increases instead of blooms. One of the reasons I hate this is because if I am going to divide and send to someone I will have to send a mother rhizome, which will only make increases instead of blooms.

Leslie, I guess I had no expectations for 'Notta Lemon'.. Or at least color was about what I expected. I was, however, surprised at the richness and intensity of colors on 'Sights Unlimited' and 'Itsa Whatever'. The only pictures available when I got them were somewhat muddy. I didn't really expect to like them, but I was really pleased..
I'm hoping for a better show from 'I Wuv Woses' next year. The falls were pretty horizontal, which I'm not crazy about... but I'm hopeful those pom poms will be a little more exuberant next year.
The Burseens have all made increases, I believe... I'll check tomorrow... I've had quite a few others that look like they're bloomed out. Thumbs down I was happy to see 2 increases on 'Border Skirmish' today. Hurray! I thought it had bloomed out.

I hope they increase for you. I haven't lost any of mine yet to exuberant blooming. Itsa Whatever almost picks up the colors of Ozone Alert in the changeling pic. Did many blooms go that way, or was that what it faded into?

Oh, so the rhizome of a bloom out can still put out increases, it's just you have to wait an additional year for a bloom. Nice to know, thanks..

Luckily I have never had one that did not put increases on the next spring. I just don't like knowing that spring will only bring a new start and no hope of bloom.

Wow this is great! Must be a Thornbird cousin. Am I remembering correctly that there is no Burseen website?

Correct - Tom Burseen does not have his own website.

Roper's Revenge - a pretty one, but prone this year to making chimera. Freaky weather makes freaky flowers I guess!

Burseens? Stout's, Superstition, Wild Iris Rows, The Shady Spot, Breezeway, Rockytop, Napa and Blue J all have good collections, and not all the same ones. Other vendors, such as MidAmerica, carry some too. I have gotten most of mine from Stout's and Wild Iris Rows, but am getting many this year from Superstition, The Shady Spot (who, bless her, let me order some off catalog), and Breezeway as well as Stout's. I ordered quite a few new ones this year!

Smith Named Keith - I love the color and flounces on this one, but am not a fan of the narrow falls.

you can see how narrow here

This is a pic with it's chimera bloom on the bottom.

Thumb of 2016-05-28/Lestv/b77219 ironically the chimera falls are wider!

Anyone still out there?

Ozone Alert - first time this has bloomed for me. Quite a color changling in different lighting conditions. Love it best in late day sun I think.

I Wuv Woses - mine never opened fully like Sherry's. I had several buds that while opening had a rose-like appearance.

Lovey dubby

After that it got kind of messy, but this was it's first year blooming so hopefully it will sort itself out.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/Lestv/0897c0 What is the little odd one standard piece on the right called?
I had several of those grow out of the sides of bloomstalks this year.

Thumb of 2016-05-29/Lestv/bc3735 peachy, missing the poms
