Anyone have an idea what this black is? I took the front & back of the leaves. It seems to have happened very quickly. What do I do?

Aack, Patty. Looks like the dreaded Black Rot to me. It does appear and spread very VERY fast. That's probably the result of the deluge we had last Wednesday.

Cut off every leaf with black on it, and take the plant in so it doesn't get watered or rained on. (you can leave the pseudobulbs if there's no sign of black on them) Dust all the cuts with cinnamon. Keep the plant away from all your other orchids and let it dry out really well. Then keep your fingers crossed.

That culculattum is just sublime.

Yes, and he went to bed before 9:30, he was so exhausted. He's been working 7 days/week for over a month now, and as soon as he sat down to watch some TV, had a beer and let himself relax, ZZZZZ.

Getting old really sucks. Anyway, when I went to the car to go get him from the airport, there was your little Stingray plant in the back seat still. I haven't forgotten about Pixie Charm. Just been busy. My cleaning lady was here today, I was out chasing butterflies out of the pool cage (long story) and then we had to go grocery shopping on the way home from the airport. Tomorrow I have a long list of "honeydew" jobs for him, and will need to help him with a couple of them.

Are you home on Monday?

There's lots of fun in between the drudgery, Ted. I was out getting dirt under my fingernails while the house was getting cleaned . . . Green Grin!

Happy Mother's Day, Elaine! All the other mother's too!

Yes, I should be home all day Monday, but the way things change around here it's always a good idea to give me a quick call to be sure!

Ted, I got mine from Jim at Florida Suncoast Orchids. He's been working on his web site for ages, but I'm sure you could contact him through it and get a cucullatum...tell him Patty sent ya! http://floridasuncoastorchids....

Ooooops, Ted...I just checked the website and read that he doesn't ship to CA as he doesn't have the required permits. Sorry! Guess you'll have to find someone local.

Happy Mothers Day to all.
That's OK Patty, I like to see what I am buying, so I rarely buy on-line. But we have some growers here on the left coast as well. I'll look around.
Hah, I got a little plant time in last nite as well. Bought some of those Kool Logs and playing around with what to mount on them,
And yes, Jim, sure smells good around here now
Lindsey, that unicum is even more orange in real life.
