Ursula...I have no clue how to move my post...do you want me to just delete it (I don't know how to do that either)...feel free to move to a more appropriate place, or start a new thread titled Critter Week if you can/want to. Sorry, I don't know how to fix...

Ursula, Thank You! yes it looks like I have an invasive ground orchid on my hands. Guess I'd better chop that flower stem off before it sets its seeds free.

I'll have to look around the school garden for any more of them. They seem to have arrived in the mulch bags or some of our new garden soil.

Patty, I will start a new thread called "Critter week" and if you would like to simply repost your animal pics with their background, that would be great. (If I post them, it will appear under my name.) I then will delete just some of your pictures in this thread here to keep continuity.

Ken, My Stanhopea is in a basket with big holes and is planted in sphagnum moss. Now I know why I chose that particular potting method. Smiling Its hanging under the bottom shelf just above the turtle pond and is looking very happy there.

Thanks, Daisy. I have a handful of exactly the same orchid basket, in three sizes. I'll have to use the 10" (I think).

Just looking at my Restrepias - this Restrepia antennifera flowers year around, I rarely get a good flush of these cute little bugs, usually I just see a couple of them at a time. This is actually a cool grower, but this one has lived amongst my stuff for many years now. It normally hangs over the fish tank and I pour some tank water on it once in a while.

Do you think I'm safe in assuming they are the same plant?

That was a safe bet, Lindsey. The new name is Rhyncholaeliocattleya [Rlc.] William Farrell 'Dawn Light' HCC/AOS (Cattleya Helen Veliz x Rhyncholaeliocattleya Llano). As long as you have the name tags out, Blc. Dal's Rapture is also now an Rlc.

Ursula, the Restrepia looks healthy and happy. What a bonus that it flowers most of the year!

Beautiful Catts, I agree, noid or not, Lindsey.
I like that deeply colored noid, the lip somewhat reminiscent of C. walkeriana?

Jim, I could imagine Restrepias flowering a little better in a cooler surrounding and I think I am going to start bringing those cool growing Orchids outside.

Thanks Jim.. I sent the new photo to Kawamoto and H & R where this plant likely came from. H&R didn't respond and Reid Kawamoto came right back with a name that rang no bells with me.. Or my journal!

Perhaps the name recorded in your journal has been changed and they sent you the new name. What name did they send you?

I've already deleted the message.. But it was something like C. Hawaiian variable. And a note explaining about how different sibs can be.

The Den tetragonum bloom has character, doesn't it? Smiling I love the delicate Den x, very pretty!
I wonder, is this Lycaste aromatica x easier to bloom than the species?

Ursula, after moving a Lycaste aromatica I had all over the place, I found a spot it likes. Morning dappled sun and partial shade thereafter and no afternoon direct sun. I now have a number of different Lycaste and they all do well. Have another in spike. This is the Den tetragonum's second bloom this year. and yes, character is a good word. I especially like the way Dendrobium bracteosum x Den. tannii 'Red' grows from the bottom of the stalks
