Is this an issue with the change over, or is it on my end? I've been seeing a lot of little circles going around for a long time on some photos. Just wondering if it's a problem with the resizing function here or there. I noticed that photos from my smartphone take a long time to load, and I can't make them any bigger from here. Now my new camera also has smaller pictures if zoomed, and even at regular size they are slow to load.

Nope, real fast for me but I resize ahead of time. I can test from my IPhone next, those images are big.

Hi Carol,

Try going to other web pages and see if pictures load slowly on those pages as well. If they load slow on other web pages then the problem must be on your computer or your internet connection.

You could go to http://www.speedtest.net/?test... and test your download speed (it’s free).

Personally, I don’t have any problem with slow loading images on NGA, in fact they load very quickly. I do have a very fast internet connections however so I’m sure that helps.

Sadly, I have AT&T U-verse, and they are doing upgrades, so that could be part of the problem. I don't have problems with the first photo, that I can recall, but when there are multiple photos, it's usually the second or third photo that hangs up. If I close the that one and move to the next, all is well. I'm just so spoiled with the way things have always worked here. Whistling And mine are still very slow to load, but again new camera could be the problem.

Well, AT&T U-verse should be pretty fast. See if restarting your computer helps. That should clear the cache. Good luck, hope you get it figured out soon.

This is an example of what I'm seeing. I didn't open the first picture at first, because I wanted to see if the zoom made a difference. When I closed the second picture , The first popped right up. The thread "Bird photos - May 2016" in Gardening for Butterflies, Birds and Bees forum

I've been having the same sort of problem. No prob uploading my own photos, but on several threads I've waited a looooong time for someone else's photo to load. Long enough to go potty or get another cuppa. Maybe these are two separate problems. If so, sorry for horning in.

I know Dave has an resizing program that has always worked on this site. That's why I asked the question in the first place. I'm just wondering if the transition has caused a problem with it, or if I'm going to break down and get a new PC.

I'm not sure why you're having slowdowns but I don't think I've changed anything on our side. What browser are you using? Have you tried a different one to see if the same problem persists?

I'm on Firefox and some of the photo's are opening very slowly for me and some not at all.

Others, as soon as I click on the photo, it immediately opens. Weird...

Me too - Firefox and inconsistent opening of photos. Before this past week there were no problems for me at all. Its a sudden change.

Me three. I'm having the same issues as Vic and CarolHB when opening photos using Firefox. It started about the same time as the switch from ATP to NGA.

Me, too! I'm using Chrome and some of the pictures are very slow to load. I was also just trying to connect to the site and it gave me an error saying something like "garden.org took too long to respond". I checked some other websites and they loaded right away so I don't think it's my internet.

I didn't even get the message on IE...just lost the site. I tried on Chrome and got the "this page cannot be displayed" message. I have a suspicion that Dave is working on this. When I went back to my shortcut it popped right up.

Just noticed this same thing today (using Chrome). I have Charter cable, kind of wondering if it might have something to do with all the bad storms going through the center of the country.
