Gotta be the fairies. If they are not provided with a home of their own they will inhabit electronics and just start messing around. Maybe a fairy house needs to be installed near the server for this site. This is absolutely true. The dollhouse people told me. Lovey dubby

This has been happening to me too. So very frustrating. It happened to me last night & I haven't had time to be on much today at all. I think I only opened 1 maybe 3 photos on the site today. I'm finding what everyone else is -- hit or miss, no specific order, no rhyme or reason. Using Mac & Safari.

Had a bunch that wouldn't open this morning on the first try. I'm wondering if the server can't keep up with the traffic.

That can't be the reason if only a few people are experiencing the problem.

My experience has been just like others'. It is very random and I can detect no set pattern to the odd behavior. Shrug!

Sometimes even the thumbnails and small images on the site seem to take forever to load. In general, the website has been acting a little odd since either the merge or the switch to the new server. The "jump to new post" feature has also gotten flaky for me.

It still functions better than other gardening websites, but just not as well as it did a few months ago.

Same here with the slow photo loading and jump to new post. Random describes it perfectly.

Ditto. I'd sometimes been putting the slow loading down to our not-so-high-speed internet but it doesn't always seem to be that. Is everyone else having problems on broadband that normally has good speeds?

You all might have something in common beyond this website. I'm using a desktop PC with Windows 7 and Firefox 46.0.1 and I have experienced none of these problems.

I'm using a PC with windows 7 using IE or Chrome. No difference between those two. I'm on AT&T U-Verse, so not a broadband problem. Shrug!

Has anyone else had issues with pictures taken from the data base? I've had them slowly dropping down from the top in sections. The last one was the Erodium photo in the recently shared photos, and I finally gave up on it.

Carol, yes when I've clicked on some of the recent photos on the main page, they load very slowly from top to bottom. Sometimes they get "stuck" partway through.

I've also noticed the slight delay with the "jump to new post" feature. I think it's jumping to the right page, then it takes just a second to jump down to the first new post. It's still quick, but I never noticed that "stutter" before.

Using a Dell Inspiron laptop with Windows 10 and Chrome here. High speed internet through Time Warner cable.

ZuZu - I am using a desktop. I use Firefox 46.0.1 (not Chrome, though). I, too, have been having random issues. I had planned to let Dave know, but got busy and forgot. I just saw this thread. It does seem to be random. I use AT&T and have a wireless connection to my computer. I am using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

Some of the pictures I've viewed get stuck halfway, like Melanie said.

I'm sure we're giving Dave a headache, but maybe we're also giving him some hints? I know he's trying to figure this out. So far, I'm not seeing Computers or Operating systems, or browsers in common, but only a few have given that info.

When they are slowed, and it's random for me also, to expand/open I can right click the plant, google search it and open images before that photo will expand/open and I'm wireless! Makes it seem that something is amiss here. ?

Can we blame AT&T? My trouble-free service is provided by Xfinity.

Melanie & Juli are with Time Warner cable internet so unless ATT & Time Warner are having the same problems at the same time the common denominator wouldn't be the service provider.

It's still happening to me. Something out there doesn't want me to see Melanie's Great Crested Flycatcher photos.

I tried going back to the previous photo & then forward & no dice. I tried directly clicking on the one(s) that wouldn't load & no dice. I tried everything I could think of to try - nada. Then I clicked directly on the photo again & viola' there it was. It makes no sense.
