LOL, No place is as hot as Columbia and while we are the southernmost region of the state we are, as you say, generally cooler. But, it is not the heat but the humidity and the damp, cool soil during the winter doesn't help. The Dorchester Rd. area is significantly higher and dryer than the sea islands. I lived in Dorchester County during the 60's/70's and the elevation was about 80'; that's why the planters sent their families there to avoid TB in the late 1800's. It is only 14' where I live now. If Suga is closer to high land the Blackberry lilies should do fine.
