Went outside to do a bit of hybridizing and discovered we have had some rain, l/2 inch. No pollen to work with. Must have happened early morning when the daylilies were already open. But, it was definitely great to get some rain. Thumbs up

I am glad you got some rain last night, Cindy. We did, too. It moved through in the middle of the night or early morning. I hope it isn't too hot at your cottage and that you have a great time.

Charlemagne said:It rained today in New Mexico.

Here is the rain starting at sunset. The rain is the pink at the top of the photo, backlit by the sunset. As you can see, it is evaporating before it hits the ground.

It's raining harder now, the rain (again the pink at the top of the photo) is still evaporating before it hits the ground.
Thumb of 2016-07-18/Charlemagne/7274cb

The rain is starting to fade away as the sun sets. It is now the grey at the top.

Another week expected of mostly sunny, hot and some days excessively humid. Yup, summer for sure.

They are calling for a high of 90F. It will be very hot all week, with some days over 100F. Not much blooms here in the summer. We don't bother with annuals. Besides having no place to put them, I won't be a slave to watering them. My husband said there is a high pressure dome over the U.S. this week. That will make everyone hot.

Not much to report ....more of the same thing everyone else is getting. Hot and humid. We did have an early morning shower yesterday, made for wet legs and shoes walking among the daylilies. I ditched the shoes...cool, wet ground felt so good. We had a severe storm watch all day today and an hour ago I could see huge black clouds north of us. So happy that one missed, they were reporting 1" hail with it. Would have put an end to the bloom season. Now we have a nice breeze from the north blowing through the house. Suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow with lower humidity.... Hurray!
The cottage sounds like a fun time. Get away from the same everyday routine and "stuff". Hope it stays cooler there for you, Cindy.
Keep thinking of you Rita when I go down to the veggie patch...I've been waiting for my pea pods to pea. Finally found some tonight that feel big enough to pick tomorrow. Also noticed two zuc's were ready to pick Thumbs up And the blueberries are starting to get blue. The bushes are loaded this year, must be because of the warmer winter we had. Love fresh blueberries, on cereal and ice cream, in fruit salad, muffins, coffee cake, fruit crisp....

Gorgeous images Charley!

Oh yes, I love fresh picked blueberries straight from the garden. I sure didn't get very many this year as the birds really scarfed them up.

But Zucchini, having lots of those. Spring peas were great this year but long done. That is why I really want a fall harvest.

They are calling for a high of 93F. It doesn't rain here in the summer so any of you can send me your unwanted rain.

Margaret , I am coming to live with you !!!!!!!!! ........ well, maybe ......(66 F sounds so lovely compared to 38 celcius considering the humidex)do you have black flies in abundance ? If you do then I am afraid its a no go .......can't handle those little buggers. That is the only good thing about living where I live .........no black flies. Mosquitoes galore most years but it is even too dry for them here this year. I think I have been bitten once ,squashed it and asked" was that good for you ....it was for me !!!!" and seen or heard 2 others. That has been the most enjoyable part of this spring and summer here .

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny. Light SE wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

Cindy,
It sounds so relaxing! If you catch any fish will you keep them to eat?

Signet,
I love your conversation with the mosquito!
