Thank you both! This from an American grower in San Diego, but it is a hand written tag, and possibly he just grows out seedlings or flasks.

Phrag Umbriel appears to be on it's last flower..#5 I don't see another bud in the works..
but am happy to see a new growth coming up alongside the original !
I did send an email to the Goodwins concerning the plant name mistake...no answer from them.

I just came back from Ridgewood, a neighboring town, where I spotted this Orchid store called the Orchid Hunters Inc. I just had to walk in and take a look around.
It seems the place sells mostly wholesale, but the proprietor didn't object to me picking up a couple of plants. The light was very bright from several grow lamps. Lots of gorgeous Phals and some huge Grammatophyllums and a few others.

And this Oncidopsis Yellow Parade and the Aliceara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream went home with me.

It seems these lovely plants came directly from a large Hawaian nursery.

oh, Ursula....I Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby your new Oncidopsis Yellow Parade ..I'm guessing that Florida would be too warm to grow this outdoors?..and looking at your 'Howard's Dream' ( I just posted a pic of mine blooming)..but have it with Bllra..in front..another name change for this one? Whistling If so...what the abbreviation for Aliceara??? It just sounds like an unfortunate skin problem or something Blinking

Lindsey, yes your Marfitch 'Howard's Dream' is the same as mine. It has been renamed!
Aliceara is shortened to Alcra. Pretty, isn't it?
Not sure how the Yellow Parade will do in your warmer climate. It is probably ok. Mine will have to spend the Summer at temps in the nineties. Smiling

I had a very successful yard sale today and took my proceeds directly to the Tampa Orchid show, running this weekend. In addition to the plants already mentioned in the other threads ..I got
Blc. Lai's Phoenix Angel
Epidendrum Green Hornet
Cym. aloifolium species
Lc. Mi Costilla Lizzy Menedez
Lc. Bigtime
And what might be a duplicate of something I already have..
C. White Reception 'NN'is the new plant. The plant I already have is
C. Wedding Reception 'NN #16'
Is there a way to find out?

Well, Patty and I had a nice time at the Tropiflora Fall Festival, and each came home with some nice new plants. I only bought two orchids, both bare root divisions so we'll see . . . V. Boonyarit Moonlight and a L. anceps 'Barkeriana' came home with me and are now getting a nice rainwater soak thanks to Mother Nature. Now, to find a space to hang them . . . everyone has grown over the summer to where it's getting a little crowded out there in the cage.

Sorry no pictures today, as I hadn't realized my phone was low on battery . . Rolling my eyes. Rafael did have some spectacular plants in bloom - Lindsey did you buy a plant with the name 'Roman Holiday' in it when you were here last? He had several plants of that one in bloom and just wonderful - both fragrant and large, lush and lovely flower stems. I'm going to get one when we go to his Open House in November - maybe they'll be charging less for a plant not in bloom.

I also bought a neat Brom, a little Pachypodium for $2 (Yikes, it's prickly and bit me once already!) and the coolest epicactus with fronds ? that twist up like corkscrews. When it stops raining I will get pics.

Elaine, Roman holiday is on my wish list!
Sounds like y'all had a good time and got some treasure!
I forgot to say that both my plants entered for judging got ribbons a second..one of the growers had a beautiful Copper Queen entered and it took the blue ribbon..and a 3rd place for my other.

News from our show; I submitted 5 orchids for judging and won 4 first place blue ribbons and one yellow third. I may pitch that one slacker on the way home tomorrow. nodding There were 22 enthusiastic students at my 2 PM lecture today so I'm pleased about that. Lindsey was running around taking pictures so I hope we get to see them soon. Even the lunch was good. We have 9 vendors there and they all seemed happy. It looked much better attended than last year and I know we signed up some new members.

(I'll be driving along behind your truck with the fishing net, Jim) Congrats on your ribbons, and Lindsey's too.

Sounds like you had a great time, but too bad you missed the Tropiflora event. Lots of really nice orchids in bloom, and some delicious divisions too. Rafael had big divisions of his Schom. Veronica Romero that he registered and named after his daughter. It's a real beauty (I'm sure his daughter is too).

Patty and I poached ourselves in the sticky heat, luckily it was cloudy for a while so not as bad as blazing sun. About an hour after we left, there was a huge heavy thunderstorm up there, so we're glad we missed that.

Ursula, lots to be happy about here. Our Expo was a big success. The vendors were happy as there was a big crowd and they bought lots of orchids. There were plenty of orchids submitted for judging so the judges were busy and happy. We served a nice lunch for the workers and judges and above all, the weather cooperated. The skies opened just as I pulled into the garage and it is still raining. I brought home 5 new plants which I will tell you about tomorrow.
