I absolutely agree, Ursula. You must try to come down while the weather is terrible in NJ and so very nice here.

I have a package deal of a dozen Vandas arriving any day now from Motes Orchids, so was very restrained at Plantio, and only bought myself two nice fat divisions of Schom. superbiens that will go on a cork mount tomorrow. It seems to be a smaller strain of Schom than I've had so I do hope they take off as well as their cousins.

Jim also gave me a beautiful Den. of the antelope persuasion and I've been wanting one for ages. Thanks again, Jim.

Now, I really need a bigger pool cage . . . hanging space is running out rapidly.

Well, it was a feeding frenzy today and I have been working on the names for two hours now. They probably need more work but this is what I have so far:
Large bare root divisions:
C. lobata f. alba X C. lobata 'Jeni' AM/AOS The alba form of a species Catt.
Laelia splendida X self nice species Schomburgkia
C. dowiana f. aurea X Mcp. brysiana primary hybrid SchomboCatt. Update: this now has a name. Myc. Graf's Illusion
C. Lorraine Shirai 'Raye' X Rlc. Frank Gilmore. Edited again as this one now has a name: Rlc. Shirley Jones
Lc. Twilight Song 'Woodlannds' HCC/AOS X self
Ctt. Penang 'Black Caesar' ' AM/AOS
Ctt. Mary Elizabeth Bohn
NOID Schomburgkia A very large division for $5.00. I'll ID it when it blooms. Couldn't resist.

Potted orchids:
Alcra. Pluto's Drummer 'Pacific Pink'
Bc. Yellow Bird
Bc. Aka's Angel This is B. nodosa crossed with C. Hawaiian Wedding Song so it should be a good one.
Rcv. David Sander This little plant was tiny and beat up but it was the only David Sander in the place.
Bc. Sunset Surprise X Rl. digbyana

In bloom or in spike:
Pyp. Mendenhall 'Hildos' FCC/AOS in spike
Bc. Glorious May

We also saw Patty who was under a tent selling her fancy baskets. She actually baked cookies for us! How nice is that?!

Traffic was light and we made it down there in just over an hour. Lindsey is a great traveling companion which made the day even better.

Rolling on the floor laughing I've been caught in a delirious state whilst orchid shopping too, Jim. I also have two Star Ruby 'Xanadu's which I intend to mount on a squirrel swing as soon as either of them will stop blooming. (it's a real winner, btw)

I think it would be dangerous to go shopping with you guys. Hilarious! , My credit card would melt. What a haul you all brought home. Good to see the begonias are working their way around the crew.

I'll say, Jim got on a roll there - must have been after I left because he was still relatively sane when I was there.

Yes, Alice I forgot to tell Jim that both those begonias came to me as cuttings from you.

I love them both. I have an area where it has become too shady for grass, so I'm putting in stepping stones and lining them with begonias. I'll send pics when I'm finished.

About the begonias, the Sophie Cecile will get tall but the Don Miller will do well around stones, you can keep it low by pinching it and every one of the cuttings will root. It is the most prolific plant I have ever had.

I've been looking again at these names and I think I finally have it all sorted out. Here is a good example: The tag says:
Mtssa. C. M. Pitch X Odem. Blackberry 'Hawaii'. This is what it should have said:
Brat. Charles M. Fitch X Ons. Black Beauty 'Hawaii'

That cross has now been named so it boils down to Aru. Amy Roth

Well, given that one of my Vanda plants dropped half their leaves between 9am and noon... and dropped almost all the rest between 3pm and 5... it's a fair assumption!
