I just saw one page that had TWO models suggesting that it was going to head east back out to sea, then turn south , loop around and make another pass at Miami!

Good thinking, Lindsey. I've got most of my catts under cover now, too. Mine are just about all hanging up so the wind doesn't bother them much, but I think we'll be getting a fair amount of rain as the storm goes by, too.

Forecasters last night were predicting we'd see wind in the 30mph range tomorrow and Friday. Hoo boy, I sure hope it goes by as fast as they are saying because I'm supposed to be on the water for a sailing regatta this weekend. Need to take the boat over to the Squadron on Friday afternoon at the latest.

Elaine, that will be quite a ride!

Tara, are you OK where you are? My PV Beach son, who was sure he was fine has now been told to go and besides the traffic there are darn few hotel rooms left. We are all going to meet up at son # 2's house in Asheville.

I sure hope this is all overkill and nothing more than an excellent exercise to see if emergency preparedness folks are prepared.

Yes, I heard the Mayor call for the beaches evacuation about 11:30 this morning. Hoping that everyone heeds the order! Sure looks like a nasty piece of work headed this way!

We are good (I hope) where we are. Crossing Fingers! I live just off of the Cedar River, but it hasn't ever reached this high. Crossing Fingers! At this point I'm more concerned with wind damage. I'll be spending this evening, and the morning, moving a lot of the "flyable's". We've been here 37 years, and have never flooded. Crossing Fingers! I hope I didn't just jinx it!!! Whistling I'm now knocking on wood!!!! Hilarious!

Well, Asheville's high and dry! My neighbor was vacationing up there this week. I've been feeding their menagerie. Three dogs, and three cats. Rolling my eyes. They were going to stay until Saturday, but they're coming back in this afternoon. Hurray! for me! Hate to be responsible for someone else's property, and pets, in the middle of what could end up being quite a disaster.

For all of you, (and me) in it's path...Stay safe! And keeping Crossing Fingers! that we make it out of this one whole, and undamaged! Group hug

Good thing your neighbors returned Tara, taking care of your orchids is enough to worry about. Rolling my eyes.

I've been out working on the pool pump. Partly cloudy and hot with a gentle breeze. We have reservations to fly out to Virginia tomorrow at 1:00 PM. No news yet of a cancellation. I'm coming back Monday evening but Patty will stay for a few days. Good luck and hang on everyone.

Has there been any change in the track, particularly the track after it hits N. and S. Carolina? I have seen a few hurricanes over the last five decades loop back, but I can't remember one that looped back to hit the same area again. One track I saw yesterday had it looping back, going across FL, and into the Gulf. Wow!

These are from a really great weather site www.spaghettimodels.com When I first looked at it I thought it was a joke...you've seen the one on Facebook where the lines go every where , including up to Minnesota and Alaska? But this guy puts absolutely every piece of info, radar image, NOA data...all in one place..

Too many lines to make much use of these charts. Is there something that actually shows probability rather than possibility? Not that forecasts 3-5 days out mean much, but forecasting tracks have certainly improved over the decades. I would like to see the European Model since it seems to be the more accurate predictor of future tracks.

I think, Ken, that each of those lines represent one organizations opinion of what they think will happen. When you see most of the lines going on a similar path.. the odds are favorable that's what we will get.. when the lines are all different then the storms actual path is totally unknown. Looking at one line ( or even a few) doesn't tell you enough to make an educated guess .

I just heard that they expect the storm to head up to St. Helena Sound (my backyard) and start the loop back to FL. That's really way too close, anyone have any valium?

I noticed a little breeze picking up a few minutes ago so I closed the OC windows just to play it safely.

We've had a few gusts and a couple of little showers, nothing exciting yet. But the storm will be going by as close as it's getting, right in the middle of the night.

Marsh has even closed the windows in his Garage Mahal, for the first time in months.

I sure hope it's gone by tomorrow afternoon, as we're supposed to take the Whaler over to the Squadron for the regatta. Could be a wet, windy afternoon but if the forecast comes true we will have a nice weekend anyway.

Yep, it's bigger and fancier than the house - you can ask Jim, he's seen it.

Yep, big garage and fancy boats.

Raining now but not much wind. We're book on a flight out to DC tomorrow afternoon. So far it's still a go.
