Costco sells J&P roses, but Wal-Mart doesn't. Oranges 'n' Lemons is a 1994 McGredy rose and it was distributed by Weeks in this country for the first few years and probably by lots of other distributors by now.

Zuzu: Yes, those photo's are all the same Rose. I said I got it at Wal-Mart but it may well have come from Home Depot or Lowes, I just don't remember for sure. I've seen J & P Roses for sale I think at Lowes every once in awhile.

Home Depot also sells J&P roses. At least, it did. I don't know who's selling them now because the place has changed owners and everything's different from the way it was. A couple of years ago, though, you would have had a very good chance of getting Citrus Splash at HD or Lowe's.

Take a look at the variety in these photos. It matches the variety in yours. I think Toni's absolutely right.

That indeed looks like my Rose! Thank you Toni & Zuzu! Thumbs up I wouldn't have had a clue as to where to even begin to look for an identity! I'm going out tomorrow and pull all of the morning glory vines from around and off of that rose to see if there's any part of it alive and worth trying to save!

Sue & Zuzu: I got carried away uploading pictures of that rose to the database. You can pick which one you think should stay and delete any others. Thanks! Big Grin

Thanks so much. I went to the opthamologist not long ago and she said I didn't need contact lenses for distance anymore but I still have to wear glasses for computer work and reading. I laughed out loud recently as I was going through some of the folders on my laptop looking at my photo's ... I had to delete many of them because they were so out of focus!

Don't be silly! I'm used to you solving lots of these mysteries. George Burns alone has been identified by you numerous times.

George Burns is a gorgeous rose.. much too nice of a rose to be named after such a curmudgeonly man such as himself. However, the thorns fit him PERFECTLY. Seriously. The thorniest, the most blood-thirsty rose I'd ever seen. If you look here: The thread "Suggestions for dealing with thorny bushes?" in Roses forum you'll see the thorns. But it's a spectacular rose.. especially in cooler weather when the yellow becomes very bright rather than faded/non-existent. Rose (Rosa 'George Burns') You'll see my faded roses versus Zuzu's, Sue's, & Lynn's gorgeous roses.

Hey, hello everybody! Smiling I finially found my way over here to the rose forum. See a lot of familiar names Hurray! I don't know why I haven't come here before as I have been at ATP since launch. I am always at the daylily forum and also commonly at the iris forum. I really should be here at the rose forum.

I have been slowely going thru my pictures and adding to the database. As my pictures are in order of dates taken I end up putting lots of different things in, not just roses. I take pictures of whatever looks pretty in the garden. In June that means the big spring flush here and it really is stunning even if I say so myself! I love my roses but I am done with my rose beds and not adding anything new. I just enjoy the way it looks in bloom.

Took me years and years to get it the way I wanted. I would add roses, dig some out and put new ones in their spots and also redo sections of some roses beds by moving them around. Now I have it the way I want it and have parted ways with the ones that didn't work for me.

I started in roses long before I got my daylily crazies so you can say the rose crazies definnatly came first and never went away.
Thumbs up

Lin, I like a lot of spring color in my garden and want there to be waves of things in bloom. So I start with the spring bulbs like daffodils and tulips. Then the next big bloom are the iris blooming. Meanwhile lots of spring flowering shrubs and small trees like crabapples. After the iris the lilies start and different ones keep blooming at various times until mid summer. Soon after the asiatic lilies (the first bloomers) the roses come on with the spring flush which really is show stopping. They rebloom again in August as I cut them back after spring blooming. After the roses the daylilies come in bloom so you see there really is a lot of color here. But it took me ten years of hard work to get to this point. Before that I had pretty much a typical surban backyard yard.

Skiekitty said:I hate DLS... messes up my internal clock for weeks! Just as I'm finally settled in, they go & change it back! GRR!!!

So... move to Indiana. Or Arizona. Instead of confusing our internal clock we confuse our minds. Are we two or three hours behind the east coast? Depends.

I've always tried to get people to believe that Indiana farmers resisted DLS because they didn't want to have to work the extra hour of daylight in the summer !!! Here I think it's just so easterners miss their restaurant reservations whenever they land in Phoenix for vacation. Gives locals a better shot at seats at their favorite restaurants.
