Kevin--You possess some alluring beauties there! They must beckon you out to look at them constantly. Probably told you take a picture it lasts longer...and you ran in and got your camera, saying don't mind if I do.

I added Mascara Snake last year and it has 3 blooms on it today. I didn't get the camera out earlier and now it is raining again.

I have seen it before in other gardens and it makes an awesome clump!

Only Final Touch's pic wasn't taken this morning. That one was Yesterday.

Mike - Your soil must be great. Look at those clumps! I hope to one day see such clumps in my own garden. What a delight that would be! (I know I keep saying this to you and others, but I am just amazed at the clumps in some gardener's photos. Maybe it's because most of us only post individual close-up bloom photos, instead of the whole plant.)

I planted several big starts in my daughter's garden in Salt Lake City in spring of 2014. The best clump this year is Canadian Border Patrol:



But it sure does depend upon location, weather, water and soil prep - I also planted Siloam Double Classic for her and kept a start here in Florida for myself from the same order. Mine has been spectacular both last year and this, and I even divided it a month ago. Hers has done nothing. Still just a wimpy double fan. Same prep and water and location as the Canadian Border Patrol.

Elaine - my mother lived in Colorado (suburb of Denver) and her daylilies were not near as nice as mine in Iowa and did not clump as well either. She has a watering system, but still not as nice.

It really depends on the cultivar, though Ginny. I lived in Salt Lake for 21 years before moving to Florida and grew some really spectacular daylilies. But as with the two above, some worked and some didn't. The Red Butte botanical garden in Salt Lake has a huge assortment of absolutely wonderful daylilies.

Becky I felt that way when I first started the daylily craze. In time yours will be amazingly large.

Elaine, I just visited my oldest daughter in Salt Lake. I also visited the Red Butte Garden. It amazes me what they can grow in such arid conditions.

Good to know! I just assumed it was something that just wouldn't do as well there. I kept telling her she didn't have the good old Iowa black dirt

Momentum still looks kinda strange to me compared to others i have seen of the same.

All of mine are done for the season except a rebloom scape on Andy Candy. Quite the eye-catcher when all others are nothing but green. Lol. I will check my camera for more and yes you must take these in the moment or next day they are gone till next year as far as that configuration of perfect blooms. You never know when the perfect clump bloom will happen and on which plant so i give myself a tour everyday morning and afternoon after work. Weekends are best as some are not fully open at 8 but may have yawned wide for their first good look at the sun.
