Even though I still have daylilies blooming, I miss the riot of color that occurs during peak bloom. What are your favorite late blooming daylilies?

Interest here as well. I just got 'Autumn Minaret' and hopefully a good start. I have a few small re-bloomers that can go late but a bloom here and there is but a novelty. I do love a birthday bloom and here in SW Ohio I think my little re-bloomers are my best shot for October daylilies.

Later to start blooming is entirely more desirable, re-bloom or no. I know garden position plays a role but known late starters are something I could really work with. Thumbs up

This is very late. Our bloom season started May 6th and we have been past peak since late June.
This one just started blooming just as it does every year. I have it in a poor place in almost full shade.
It still blooms every year. I should move it but by mid July around here it can be hitting triple digits regularly. So far not this year. I am sharing this one since out of 900 registered daylilies this is the latest.

I'm not sure about Kentucky but anyone in the North looking for late bloomers should go to Olallie Daylily Gardens. I bought several late & very late bloomers and was not disappointed. I just found a scape today on Bridal Lilac. Watermelon Summer started getting scapes a couple of weeks ago. Last year Butterscotch Harvest bloomed off and on from August until October & that was its first year blooming! These aren't registered daylilies so you won't find them in the database. And they aren't fancy either. But they will definitely bring daylily blooms to your garden way later than you ever expected! If I can find some pictures I'll post them on this thread.

Here are some pictures. They aren't very good since I was only taking them for documentation. All were taken in August (midseason last year was the beginning of July). All were blooming for the first time.

Type Alpha: bloomed 8/14-8/27.

I also had A Ripe Peach bloom from 7/27-8/13. It is loaded with scapes now.

What I need to get now is a reliable September bloomer to go with Butterscotch Harvest.

I appreciate everyone's posts (and cultivar lists) in this thread. I think most of us do want more late bloomers in our gardens. This is an excellent way to find out what some of those cultivars are. Thank you to everyone submitting cultivar names and photos!

I grow lots of lates. These are blooming in my Nashville garden today. Some of the photos are from earlier in the week when we had morning rain.

Best for Last is my fanciest, and it also reblooms!

I agree Vickie, I am also adding several to my want list after looking at Debra's post! By the way, I think Debra does an outstanding job of pairing up daylilies so that the colors and patterns enhance each other.

Great number of varieties to sort through here. 4th of July at my south-western Ohio abode is generally peak for most. Generally being a key term. And I to cling to "generally"...

I remember your Genesta scape photo! It was amazing! Do you have any idea how big it was when it did that? I am sure it was a clump, right?

I love seeing all the clumps loaded with blooms .... I aspire to grow my daylilies to that size one day .... Big Grin
