Whoa!! @wildflowers those are some beautiful dogs. I really like the dark one in the middle left.
Never let any of your male dogs go after a coyote alone..always in pairs or more. The coyotes will have a female yote that is "in heat" draw male dogs away from their yard and then the male yotes will kill the dog. Wolves have been known to do this also.

Dang, I thought he looked pretty calm to have his foot caught in a trap! Can't imagine the noise I would have been making, you can bet it would have been a lot more than a few little whimpering howls. I don't have pets or livestock but I have way too many deer, so I look at the coyotes from a different point of few. However I admit they also can become overpopulated and become a severe threat to pets and livestock and sometimes have to be controlled. They certainly do cause a chill to go up your spine when a pack of them let loose with their howls at night.

@Seedfork We use traps with "off set" jaws...the predators that we catch very rarely even have the skin broken on their leg. The trap jaws have a gap between the jaws when closed so that it is not clamped completely closed on the predators leg, about like us having a pair of handcuffs on.....they retain circulation and most do not even limp if released. We do relocate and release some.

Thank you Goat and Ronnie. Smiling They are my children. I think they still have an unfair negative reputation for being aggressive but they are very gentle by nature, unless you train them to be mean! They are so smart!

Goat, the one you picked out is my oldest going on 10. People think he looks mean. He's an awesome dog! He saved my life when he was only five months old! I might be exaggerating but not by much! We were on a walk when a buck in rut came flying out of the woods. The buck froze and so did I. My puppy immediately ran away. I just stood there frozen as the buck lowered his head and began swinging its rack back and forth and walked towards me. As it got closer, probably about six or eight feet, I could do nothing but stand there and say a prayer when my puppy came running back and let out a puppy bark at the buck. The buck turned and ran away! Whew! I love that dog!!

Okay, I could go on and on of course but I'll be quiet now. Rolling my eyes.

From a walk in the creek on my friends property. This is from back in the summer, the water is nice and cool which is really great on the 100+ degree days of summer.

Yesterday’s trip to San Marcos was wonderful despite the rain. If there’s one place you don’t want to be in a downpour, it’s Central Texas. The streets were flooded, the bar ditches were full, and the rivers were raging. The weather alert siren at Texas State University went off. Fun times. For most of the day, the camera had to stay in the bag. Driving home was an adventure with the windshield wipers on full speed while trying to avoid standing water.
And then, I got beyond the storm. And it was magical. I knew that a glorious sunset was in store if I could only find a vantage point.

I got off of the paved road in favor of an asphalt lane. No traffic so just had to watch the curves, look out for deer, and keep an eye on the sky while searching for spots to pull over.

Get those cameras ready!!!

The full moon of November 14, 2016 is not only the biggest, closest and brightest supermoon of the year. It’s the closest supermoon since January 26, 1948. The moon won’t come this close to Earth again until November 25, 2034.

"The next supermoon will be November's full Beaver Moon, which is expected to reach the peak of its full phase on the morning of Nov. 14, at 8:52 a.m. EST (1352 GMT), but it will appear full to the casual observer in the day before and after the main event. It is the second of three consecutive supermoon full moons for 2016.

This full moon will be not only the closest and brightest supermoon of 2016 but also the largest since 1948, Bob Berman, an astronomer at the Slooh Community Observatory, told Space.com. What's more, the full moon won't come this close to Earth again until Nov. 25, 2034, according to a statement from NASA." - reference - http://www.space.com/34515-sup...

Want the exact time of full moon for North American time zones? Okay, so the moon will reach the crest of its full phase on November 14 at 1352 UTC. That translates to 9:52 a.m. AST, 8:52 a.m. EST, 7:52 a.m. CST, 6:52 a.m. MST, 5:52 a.m. PST.

The moon will reach perigee – the moon’s closest point to Earth for this month – within an one and one-half hours of that time.

Thanks, I have put it on my calendar. Now if the weather will only cooperate. I attempted photos of the lunar eclipse last year. I did not look up how to do it, and my attempt with high ISO but not long enough shutter time failed in an epic fashion. I will read up on it and if it does not rain I will try again.
Also, for your astronomical interest, there will be a Total Solar Eclipse August 21, 2017, which will cross the U.S. in a narrow band from South Carolina to Oregon. I might just have to plan a trip to Oregon that day!
