Barbie - hope you don't get too much wind damage. We are forecast for more rain than wind. The rain amount increases because Hermine will run into the cold front heading down our way and they will combine to add more moisture. Thumbs down

Tom - I sure wish we could move it all to the north and west so help you all out!

The latest forecasts are putting landfall further east, so we won't see much of it--hopefully.

And we are already getting rain, before the storm's rain. Boo!

I think we're getting a front from the north right now. It feels great out, Temps areally down and it smells of soil. Lightning flashes and just the right amount of rainfall at the moment. None of that 2 inches an hour crap
Gimme it and I'll grow it!

If I only had more light out and didn't have to work tomorrow I could get things in the ground before Hermine hits......

Only in the 70's tomorrow Gabe!!!

And it looks like the northeast is going to get rain too from Hermine. So Lucy, Liz be ready to get your gardens watered!

I took the day off to try and plant, weed, and generally catch up. Supposed to be a FAB day weatherwise. Sunday rain.

Weather people keep talking about blocking fronts keeping rain away except for 'scattered' showers. I keep muttering nasty words. Just sent a box of MTB seedling to VA. They should get wet there.

I really do like that iris Lucy. Is Winterberry's going to carry it for you?

Today is September 1st, so it is time to show you my "progress" (or lack thereof).

I am posting two images for each of the three irises. The first image is from August 8th, roughly when I potted the irises. (I may have done 'What A Beauty' a little earlier; I can't remember.) The second image is from September 1st, today.

To start with, a look at the very small rhizome of 'Clarence'. I potted up about 8 or 9 of these; this rhizome was one of the smaller ones. (I marked a "*" on the plastic label to indicate this was the one being tracked.) Half or more of the small potted 'Clarence' rhizomes currently show new growth (the rhizome on the left hand side of today's image is one such), but not the smallest few, including this one. Glare (If you click on the image you can see that it is still alive. Barely.)

For MuddyMitts, here is 'What A Beauty'. I've had it sitting in mostly (filtered) shade since I potted it, and it is coming along nicely. I should probably move it into more sun. (I should also probably rotate the pot a bit, so we can see if any increases appear! Hilarious! )

Finally, here is 'Poem of Love', also coming along nicely. Lovey dubby It gets at least a half a day of sun, currently maybe more. (That will decrease during the winter months, and not just because of the shorter days, but also because of the angle of the sun relative to trees, hedges, and sheds.)

Winterberry introduces our irises, just sent some plants there--will do more next year.

Clarence is sort of lagging behind in its pot.

When I first got Clarence, it was small rhizomes too. It took a bit to kick in and really grew after the first year. Second year it bloomed, and is still growing well.

Gabe @Cuzz4short, rain bands knocking on your doorstep as I type! Raining here now too.

It's pouring sideways now. Just finished up about an hour ago. Trees bending everywhere and we're not the direct path. Good times
