It could be because the new ones were forced in a greenhouse, while the ones in your gardens grew naturally? Trim the scorched leaves off when new growth appears and nobody will ever know!

I agree with Rose. As your plants get used to your localized micro-climates, you should see fewer issues. I have Orange Marmalade in front of a shed wall. It gets full sun for most of the day. The first couple of years, there was a lot of scorching. Last year, not so much. It also helps if you keep them well watered. Hostas love water, just not wet feet. Keeping them hydrated will reduce the chances of scorching.

Ok. So I found this Blue Angel Hosta
From Lowe's in Murray.
❤️❤️ Irrisistable❤️❤️
Because of its sheer size. 😳😳
And only $7.98.

Most Garden Centers sell this size of Hosta for $60+. Im seriously considering picking up two more this size. I just called around asking for names and sizes of the stock they had in.

I rushed right over when the Lowe's employee was telling me about these ones.

So you can see the magnitude of the size of this Blue Angel I just picked up from Lowe's this morning... In case anyone is in doubt. I can't hardly believe it myself.

I planted my Blue Angel right in that wide nook between the trees and the Boylders so I hope it will grow and fill that space with lovely large cascades of Blue.

Here is 'Moonstruck' that I planted last fall now coming back bigger than before. (Except the one that Bambi took a bite out of)

And Sum and Substance is embarrassing itself right there in the splash of sunlight. It's still little pips. All the hosta around are growing faster than S&S.

Thumb of 2017-05-05/SpringGreenThumb/d19581

Liberty and Ivory Queen are supposedly slower growing but they are coming up much faster than S&S who is listed as a fast grower.

It appears to me that Hosta have a mind of their own and just do whatever they wanna ....

NH Hosta said 'Majestic' "Glows" in the garden and it DOES!!!! The one on the right looks bad because Bambi took some bites when it was pips.

Next.... Here is beautiful blue and gold Liberty next to IVORY COAST. Ivory Coast has the wider margin.

I noticed that my Liberty that gets more afternoon sun is having the margins get narrower. The Liberty with more shade has a wider margin equal to Ivory Coast.

I moved one Ivory Coast over in this sunnier location to see if it would do the same.

😡😡😡😡😡

The Utah University State RED BUTTE gardens stole my LIBERTY Hosta that I special ordered to Millcreek Garden Center.

I placed the order in March. I ordered 2. They called me and said my Liberty arrived and was on the floor. I rushed right over. There was no Liberty Hosta. Millcreek apologized. They said:

Red Butte garden reps were there right before me pulling plants right off the truck that was unloading at Millcreek and they took my hosta.

😡😡😡😡😡😡.

(I'm going to give them a bad review on plant nabbing.)

That would certainly be a big disappointment. Are they going to be able to get replacements for you?

They are checking m....but the most of me will be ok if they can't.
Hosta House is cheaper.

I just happened to have a $100 gift card to their Center and hoped to use it in Liberty. I can always use it on something else.

I spent $20 of the gift card on this 2 gallon size "Enterprise" hosta that they had. It looks a lot like Loyalist so I'm hoping I didn't make a bad decision. The pot was absolutely bursting with 30+ divisions. It was so thick I couldn't see the center and Im tempted to divide it when I take it home. I still have enough on the gift card for Liberty if they can get it in.

Is Enterprise a good grower?

That whole Patriot series is very similar in appearance. Sometimes the only difference is where some spotting occurs. Like in the center as opposed to the margins. All in all they are good growers and very worthwhile hosta. My favorite remains Patriot, but i do have several of the others.

Ok. That's encouraging. 👍🏻

I didn't know Enterprise was part of the Patriot series. Does that mean they are cousins?

I'm just hoping it isn't as slow and picky as Loyalist.

SGT, do you possibly have voles?

No voles. I have rats under the house I try to kill. I have gophers up the mountain. I'm hoping that stubby thing grows up to be a blossom or something.
