I have never seen H. Montana Aureomarginata except as a plug. This is my Montana A. coming up. It has the same flaps at the base of the Petiole and they have the same pink blush as my mystery Hosta in the previous picture. That's the only reason I wondered if it were Montana. But not sure if Montana is glossy.

Here is a picture of my Montana A and the plant I bought labeled So Sweet. At first I didn't think they were the same plants but now I think they may be the same. To bad there are so many plants with incorrect labels Thumbs down The close-up of the leafs shows why I bought the plant. Hope the variegation continues.

I went to Lowes today and they had a Hosta 'Lakeside Spruce Goose' and it looked like your plant. It was a baby I do not have this one so I do not know what a mature plant looks.

The plot thickens.........I just googled Lakeside Spruce Goose and looked at the pictures and also looked at the ones on the Hosta Library site. That could or might be the proper ID, Shrug! Confused Shrug!

My Mystery Hosta is large and growing in a round 2.50 quart pot.

It looks larger than Paul's. It seems like its sister plant would also be growing in the same size pot.

Shrug!

(I can't believe Paul's Hosta have sprang up so much. Most of mine are still purple buds waiting to sprout.)

My mystery Hosta was in a smaller pot, a single start, and was $4. The hostas that are up are on the east side of my house between a drive way and a white brick wall. They are always early there. In other areas of the garden they are just pips.

Lakeside Spruce Goose is medium small and has a mounding habit growth. My Mystery Hosta is larger with an obvious vase shape growth. Not a mounding growth

Shrug!

Things growing in containers with the containers close together are often vase shaped. When planted in the garden they assume a more mounded form......

Well Ok then... I planted my Mystery Hosta in a large pot... we'll see if it starts to mound.... (It's 19 inches tall.) Those stems are pretty stiff and erect. It's been uncrowded for 2 days.

Here is a picture of Lakeside Goose Spruce... We will know if they are going to look like the same cultivar by June I hope. Crossing Fingers!

I personally think the leaves on my Mystery Hosta look much wider, larger, and more heart shaped than Lakeside Spruce Goose.... which looks slightly slender to me. Shrug!

It may never be able to come up with a positive ID. I know that Hosta experts like Mark Zillis count the veins to help ID. We'll have to decide If we like the plant well enough to have a noid in the garden...or not Shrug!

This is exactly why I don't like the plastic plant tags that people can remove (and put back wherever). I much prefer the label be affixed to the pot as there's much less chance of them moving to something unrelated.

I agree with your observation Rick but what I saw was 50+plants which were all wrongly labeled. Must have happened where they were produced, I bought a bunch of nice Amaryllis bulbs at good garden centers this year and about 25% were mislabeled.

This NOID is so far looks to be one of my favorites but that may be because it is so large and some of the others are just young baby plants.

It just has a shiny golden hue. I'll have to figure out where it likes to be planted and just move the pot around to wherever it looks great that day...

Hilarious! Hilarious!

I'm glad I bought it. Beauty is important. I called the other Lowe's and had them read me the names of the plants they had.

So sweet
Orange marmalade
Francee

They said their Hosta was only 6-8 inches high. Not nearly as big as the ones at Bountiful Lowes. I don't know what's up with that.... Shrug!

I consider myself fortunate to get this large beauty. The mislabeling definitely came from the grower because the sticker on the pot is also wrong.

Tempted to return for a couple more Hosta since they are so big. Lovey dubby

If they have the "REAL" Orange Marmalade is is a beauty. There are IMO nicer ones now than Francee.........

I picked up Orange M last year at Lowes for ONE DOLLAR Rolling on the floor laughing End of season they went to 75% off. I picked up Six hostas to grow on the patio in pots. These were the big pots not the small pots. While I was getting bargins I picked up some shrubs. I have been plant all the end of season goods all week.
