So this is my start of the new Prayer Garden. I had a bench but the dog decided I needed a "hug" and when she jumped on me it broke the bench!!! I'm looking for an arbor with a bench, just big enough for 2 people to sit on. The black pots are where I've ordered plants but they're not here yet. Still holding for Iris and whatever else I fill in with. Hope to mulch tomorrow.





I'll post some of the names this week. It's been fun finding the right plants. Looking for Joseph's Coat climbing roses.

What a handsome young man! Yes, it is a potential start to a love of gardening when you involve the young ones. Funny how we plant these sparse looking gardens and before we know it, they are full and lush. It won't take long!

Ready to cut a clean edge and mulch the edge in. Need to add the split rail fence, arbor with bench and some more plants but progress today!

You sure are going to town on the flower beds! Everything is looking good

So this is how things work at our house - Ginny wants a new flower garden - hubby hates gardening but LOVES motorized equipment so he uses his tractor loader (or whatever the heck it's called) to clear areas, load the bucket and bring mulch, haul the big rocks, etc. Ginny tells him where she wants things and does all of the planting, mulching, and everything else (unless it's something that's too big to handle which would include pretty much only large trees!!!) So yesterday I was ready for the mulch but I was still inside with my daughter and granddaughter telling them goodbye when I looked out the window and yelled NOOOOOOOOOOOOO (like he could hear me in the closed cab ) as he was dumping it in a place I didn't want it and parked the last bucket full with the bucket right over the plants I needed to put it around! Now I know from experience that if I grumble about it I'll be learning how to run the tractor and do it myself so I merely very nicely asked him to move the bucket off the plants and then proceeded to haul mulch around to where I really wanted it You gotta love em!

Becky - that land thing has it's good and bad points. Good I have the room, but bad that I can't stop and I'm addicted to more flowers

I am envious of those here who have a nice sized piece of property of which to add lots of garden beds. I have a residential lot that is crammed full of garden beds (in the backyard) and I am now working on the front yard. (of which there is only a small amount left to add any more raised beds.)

Exactly! That is how I got my dh to agree to eliminating the lawn.

Ginny, that is funny and terrible at the same time!! I can see my dh doing something like that! I must be very specific about what I ask for and how I ask If I could do it myself I would, but it also helps if my husband feels as if he has contributed. When it is all said and done, he will take just as much pride in it as you because he has a part in it

Ginny, you have done a beautiful job on all your gardens. You put a lot of thought and effort into them and it shows. And at least your DH tries to "help"
