Thanks. It's tough all right - my bed is filled with them - I thin them out often and give away bags of them. As an experiment, I planted them around my roses, not sure if they would suck up all the water, or actually work as a mulch and keep moisture in. It may be coincidence, but my roses have improved as the hens and chicks have covered the area.
Christie that is a very interesting experiment. That would also keep dirt from splashing up on the leaves of the rose bushes, maybe eliminating black spot?

Just saw this thread here is a photo I took last summer of some on my deck
There is a few other cactus/succulents mixed in but mostly chicks and some more that did not show in photo.
Plants are like that little ray of sunshine on a rainy day.
Ok, it's been a long time since the last posting (where's Tim?) and I'm curious if anyone now has large colonies to show? Lots of time has gone by so any wannabe colony should be sizable now, right?
Since I have only small pots I can post what I consider a "colony" within a 4 inch pot.

I like Lynn;s Rose Gold, Eseence of Lime, and Green Ice (obviouslY)...what happens when a semp grows a baby on top of another semp, like in green ice? Would it die from dehydradion?
