Thank You! Vera,
sounds like best buy on baby bomb blender?
That gives me an idea to hunt a thrifty treasure!

Your purees gave me idea of hearing
about using purees to add nutrition,
vitamins, and flavor to recipes!

My search found the above link
to ideas and recipes using purees!

The recipe for chocolate beet cupcakes
may sound odd!

I have box(es) of granola bars
that are beet and blueberry.

They were on sale, $1.50 box!
So you see, I like deals, too!

The bar I sampled I liked.
I couldn't really taste beet flavor.
It seemed less sweet with beet.
Beet balanced blue berry! Sticking tongue out

I gained weight again. Glare Crying I fell off track and gained, so back to eating properly and keeping up with my cardio. I'm sticking to high proteins and nuts. I'm not limiting myself on good carbs, but I am definitely limiting the bad carbs like white bread, candy, etc. I think if I stick to a slice of bread a day/every other day, I'll be fine. As long as I don't eat anymore bread or candy for the rest of the day and keep up with the healthy carbs in nuts and certain veggies/fruits.
for You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings I will sing for joy.

Grill, it sure is easy to get off track, back to eating properly is the way to go. White bread is not a bad carb, only if you eat too much of it, and that's true of all carbs.

Oh no. Such a battle to keep the weight stable.

I am finding that keeping my carbs low and staying away from the sugar is making me very very slowly loose weight.

One of the best purchases I've made (not in the thrift store) is a bread machine. The recipes that come with it are okay, but once I started experimenting, we have much better and more interesting breads.
Last week, I made one with oatmeal, walnuts and sunflower seeds. Before that, it was whole wheat with garlic and herbs. I bake on the weekend, when the hydro rate is low, cut off a few slices right away to save in the freezer (the robust zipper bags that some foodstuffs come in are excellent for this). After Wednesday, I cut up what's left and roast it for croutons or dry it for breadcrumbs.
I've probably saved the price of the machine in the 8 months I've had it.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Vera, I need to check to see if I still have a bread machine.
I never used it. You make it sound tasty and easy!

Grill, I haven't weighed lately,
I know my weight is up and down, and up!

These messages make me be more "intentional " about eating.
I'm "intentionally" eating! Hilarious!

Eggs are a good healthy eating option. I had three small fried eggs with some baked beans and some slices of canned pickled beets. I do like beets.

For desert I had half a can of aprocotes and then indulged myself with two Herseys Chocolate Kisses. They are small so I did eat two.

I know I am not supposed to have the chocolate but it tastes so good. And I rarely have any chocolate these days.

I figure, if hospital meals all include dessert, how bad can 2 hershey kisses be? Thumbs up

Salmon going in the oven, there's potatos in already. The salmon is those 5 ounce portion cuts, so I think they will bake fast.
Plant it and they will come.

How come? Around here, a loaf of bread is over $4 now, and most of them are not all that good. The ones I make are healthier. Going to the bulk food store every now and then for different flours and more interesting seeds is no hardship; I incidentally pick up some TVP, hemp protein, the yellow fake cheese powder for my guilty mac&cheese habit, chocolate covered raisins, and a couple of spices.
My mother used her bread machine only to mix, knead and prove the dough, then she'd form it into a loaf or buns and bake it in the oven.
I let the machine do the baking, too. That way, I can just throw in the makings and leave it alone for three hours - go do something else. I don't get the nice crust, but it's a square loaf, perfect for sandwiches.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Hi yall! Smiling

Vera, you did prompt me to buy celery today!

All of you prompted me to buy carrots and apples,
and I bought plain Goya cookies, like graham crackers.

While listening to this podcast about
The Covenant of Water book,
I thought I could have a snack,
and there are "kisses" in fridge.
I would not stop at 2 like Rita.

So I reached in the fridge and...
took out apple to munch.
I wished I had the truffle cheese with it!

Before eating last 2 slices of apple,
I reached in fridge for walnuts!

Vera, I have bread story for another post! Hilarious!

I made granola bars last night. They're ok. Not as sweet as purchased, that's good I guess. I did not include the brewers yeast ( vitamins and minerals boost?) and the flax seed. I wanted to be sure I'd do it again before investing in those extra ingredients.
Plant it and they will come.

I agree Sally about the other ingredients.

The recipe I saw for lemon sauce for pasta, protein, veggies,
included nutritional yeast. Is that like Brewers yeast.

Another power house item not used often is Wheat Germ, in jar.
It has lots of nutrients, if I remember correctly, and can be easy add-in,
just like molasses, and these fruit and veggie purees, etc.

I agree also that foods with less sugar,
sometimes don't taste as good as store bought!
That's how they train our taste buds!

At game day there was peach cobbler and blonde Oreos.
The cooked peaches were good. The Oreos too sweet.

I used to think anything was not too sweet! Hilarious!
The sweeter, the better, in my old way of thinking.
That's the problem since that's the sugar addiction! Shrug!

Hope new way of thinking keeps me from being so old!

Yes, I am learning from elders with healthy habits.
Went with 80 year old friend to her appt yesterday.
She eats small fresh salads for lunch at gym,
after exercise and dance class.
She is my dance instructor, and my life coach!
She doesn't seem 88, could easily be 48!

We can be happy we are making healthy habits! Hurray!

Brewers yeast is different from nutritional yeast according to my recipe site. ?? Another thing to google!

This recipe includes wheat germ. I used to eat that way back. There's still only one brand at the grocery, the same one, Kretschmers.
Plant it and they will come.

Yes, brewers yeast and nutritional yeast are two different things. Vegan use is nutritional yeast as a substitute for cheeze.

I think 2 Herseys Kisses not so bad really. Just can't get in a habit and have them each night after dinner. Really I have been good at staying away from the sugars and sweets.

Enjoy that egg plant parm Rita! It's one vegetable I avoid. Never developed a taste for it but my best friend loves it. She wanted to make me one of her egg plant recipes and I said no thanks.

I made cheesecake today for the OG. He has to be careful of sugar, so I use the no-cal substitutes, like stevia. Not great for baking, as they have no body, but okay for this diabetic cheesecake. I use pulverized cereal to line the pan.
It's just cream cheese, yogurt, eggs, generic Splenda knock-off, vanilla extract, orange zest and a little flour (I forgot the baking powder, so they're a bit flat) In the toaster oven for 2X25 minutes - turn them around - at maximum temp. (About 360) It's not to die for, but it's wholesome. Sometimes, when I have time to fiddle more, I bake them in muffin tins for individual portions.

And I make lots of fruit salads. Whatever's in season.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.
