Hi Yall! Smiling

I remember when muffin cheesecakes were popular!
I think you put vanilla wafer in bottom of small muffin tins.
Wafer was the crust, top with blueberry or strawberry pie topping!

Yes, they sound like tempting treat!

Rita is helping me work on kicking sugar habit.

For brunch I had cottage cheese with fruit!
Cottage cheese is not a favorite of mine!
Trying to change my mind!

As Sally said about granola!
You can tell there is less sugar!
So I'm not craving as much sugar!

The cottage cheese with fruit, walnuts, and cinnamon, like fruit salad,
was filling and satisfying.
Usually I prefer yogurt that has some sugar.
Though with cottage cheese instead of yogurt,
I didn't want to eat as much! Hilarious!

It's good I did good at lunch,
because when I left gym,
to be at "grand" ball game,
I ate bad sugary snacks!

So I need to have healthier snacks.
this was an on the go snack.
Not driving, walking.
I think I had enough exercise to cancel the sugar, I hope!
I took an extra long walk at sunset,
and re-discovered a marina park with a walking trail!

A snack I make sometimes, for when I crave salty munchies (like pretty much every night when I'm watching murder stories) is Cheerios (I get the store brand multigrain), Chex, Shreddies and peanuts. Toast them over low heat in a wok, with a little vegetable oil. Carefull, stirring all the time, because they do want to scorch. Add salt, pepper, paprika and chili to taste. Toss, let cool, put in a lidded container near my TV chair.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Hi all! Smiling

Coworker said sugar is preservative so food last longer!

I knew salt preserves food.
Didn't think about sugar.

Guess that's a reason to avoid processed foods and why fresh foods spoil so much faster.

I think I have bagged salad I may need to discard, unfortunately.

I took cake to work for pot luck lunch.

Also took ๐Ÿฅ• carrots, celery, and mangoes. While prepping food, I snacked on veggies and fruits ๐Ÿ˜‹

I did feel better eating fresh food!

I NEED to change my diet drastically when we get home. I think I will try a "detox" as per my functional medicine Dr. First thing I am going to try my best to deep-6 is wheat.

I used to eat a loaf of bread in a week. But I haven't had bread in about a month. I really miss it.

Today having chicken and potato salad.

I share Margaret's idea. Everything in moderation, variety is good.
I'm not a huge sliced bread fan. Lately I like an oatmeal loaf from Pepperidge Farm, it is a little more substantial, not so squishy and airy. Satisfies those here who make sandwiches more than I do. I like a kaiser roll or nice roll, but those often come in sixes and then you have waste or freeze them.
The nice produce stand and nursery is open now. I could go tomorrow for good produce, some local or local- ish. And flowers. Maybe another pepper plant.
Plant it and they will come.

I used to live with the moderation plan. But now on Keto and there are endless rules about what can be eatten and what is not ever to be eatten.

Bread is on the never ever list. All this talk about bread and I got hungry for bread. So I just had two slices of Texas Garlic Toast. The kind you get frozen from the Supermarket.

Oh my gosh, soooooooooooooooo good.

I have been on Keto for almost 3 months. I hnestly don't know how much longer I will last to stay on it.

Keto all about WHAT you eat. Not when so you can eat 6 meals aday and wake up at midnight and eat some more.

Then there is Intermettened Fating or Time Restricted Eating. All about WHEN you eat, not what you eat. Eat whatever you want but only in a certain time period part of the day. No eating at all outside of the eating window.

But you can eat, no keto rules about what not to eat. And that sounds great right about now to me.

Heard of nutritional yeast? It is called for in a granola bar recipe I made recently. Sounds like a good vitamin and protein boost in the bars or other baked goods.

Bread is on the never ever list. ...

When you forbid entire classes of food, all you do is produce more craving and misery. Some bread is awful, some bread is wonderful. A little sugar once in while never killed anyone; there are so many forms in which you can have sugar - strawberries are a nice example. My OG, being diabetic, has to be careful of carbohydrates, but he can still have the odd sandwich (rye, whole wheat of multigrain, usually) fried potatoes or fruit salad.
Behind every opportunity is a disaster in waiting.

Hi Yall! Smiling

while reading about limiting wheat and carbs,
I'm eating bedtime snack of cereal and milk!

It's shredded wheat, no sugar, and 1% milk.

I was "addicted" to cereal.

I have been limiting it lately.

I was away from home,
and kinda away from food today,
so hungry now at bedtime.

I know it's better to eat earlier,
and not eat before bed.

Well, it's a new week!
Fruits and Veggies in fridge!

nature keeps amazing me
At this stage of my life I know what I like and what I don't. I know what to avoid-trans fats and food loaded with cholesterol, fats and sugar. A slice of bread will not hurt me-I'm not gluten sensitive. Being always in a rush to get chores done after work I often have just a toasted bagel for dinner. Not the best most nutrionally proper thing to eat but-basically I try to sustain a balance of protein and fiber. I don't eat meat but do have fish and chicken every once in awhile. Limited carby items like pasta, rice, etc. I will not allow a diet plan to run my life. If I want to eat it and I know it's too late for a bedtime snack I'll save it for later but I won't eliminate entire food groups just because it's not on the "plan". Limit them-yes! The only "food group" I've stopped eating is fast food. No Taco Bell, Dominos {or any other pizza joint, no burger king or mc d's. No deli meats-they truely are the worst thing for your body. So loaded with sugar, salt and chemicals. Ew. The cleanest you eat the better you'll be. Balance and moderation.

I agree Brenda!

A new breakfast/lunch diner opened. One item I heard people say they like is ๐Ÿฅ‘ avocado toast.1
I think it's thick slice of toast topped with avocado mash and sprinkle of feta cheese!

My neighbor in memory care was active at home. She didn't drive so she walked. She did house chores. She didn't like to sit.
She didn't watch much tv.

When I took her to store she always got bag of ๐ŸŽ apples.
When she cooked she may cook pork chop, baked potato, veggies.
She liked dark chocolate & wine.
She enjoyed her meals!

She didn't have weight issues until...she went to memory care.
Now more sitting. She has balance problems now.
And 3 meals daily with dessert ๐Ÿจ

Yes she gained weight especially in belly this past year, and I think her labs, especially cholesterol, are worse, though they monitor blood sugar and meds. So life style and portion sizes do have large effect, negative or +++!!!

So I better get up and get moving!
She went

So on bread and gluten. The idea behind the Keto Bann on bread. Well, wheat is because even though one is not guten sensative that one can't eat it or all kinds of digestive upsets Keto saiz wheat and gluten is still a major cause of all sorts of evil inflamation. So no bread allowed.

Nutrition Yeast is big with Vegan eating.
