LOL, cross-posted with Rick; funny that we both picked that 35-40 age range!

Under 30, we would still be "kids". Over 40, "getting old". Gee, the age-range I want to be is very narrow! Kind of like temperature after I'd lived in coastal WA for a few years. Colder than 65 is "freezing" and over 80 is "a heat wave". How spoiled can I be?

Also, for me at least, "40" is long enough ago that I don't recall what (if anything) I was angst-ridden about at THAT age. So it sounds good to me now!

BTW, when I hit 50, I decided that 50 years of growing OLDER was enough; it was getting boring. So I decided to "grow younger" from that point on. By that rule, I'm down to 37 or so: almost perfect!

I'm still going with 39 Rick . Although I don't remember 45 being so bad. I tell my kids I'm not old I'm seasoned I was walking down the street a couple years ago and got whistled at from a couple guys going by. I smiled to myself thinking "I still got it" then realized it was the cute 20 something behind me with the tight jeans they were whistling at

Ahhh, what do kids know? If I was inclined to think that their taste meant anything, I would watch 30 seconds of modern television and cure myself forever.

I was in some convenience store and heard an unfamiliar young female voice behind me, saying something rather personal that certainly caught MY attention! I was turning around, desperately trying to think of SOME way to respond to THAT when I realized that she was on a phone with someone with whom she must have been on very intimate terms.

But the question still troubles me: what should I have said if it HAD been aimed at me?
Maybe: "Dear, I think you should get your medications adjusted RIGHT AWAY!"

I was in a relationship with a woman around my own age, driving over the Brooklyn Bridge. A Young Hot Blond (1/3 to 1/2 our age) cut us off and then gave a cutsie "sorry" grin. My friend went ballistic for a few minutes, then calmed down enough to admit that she was FURIOUS that YOUNGER women now got to get away with things SHE had done 20 years ago.

Wise Rick said nothing.

Hubs is the only one who whistles at me now...says I still have a lot of mileage left.

Well... if you want more whistles then get a parrot.

We try now and then to watch Saturday Night Live and always regret it because the new "humor" in our opinion isn't Don't like most of the sitcoms. Watch NCIS, way better

LOL -- I remember quite precisely what was going on when I was 40, as I was just recently divorced

Turning 50 was just kind of weird for me, for some reason

Now I just sort of embrace each year as it comes... although this year I turned 68, which is how old my dad was when he died, so not the best year for me.

My dad died at 66. Hope it's not genetic

And I'm 40!

My younger son turned 40 last month. I texted him Happy Birthday! His response: "Thank you...made it to 40! "

Whatever the numbers say, I'm pretty sure we all feel much younger in our minds!!

I know I'm old when I'd rather listen to classic country music instead of what they call country now Same with oldies and classic vinyl channels as opposed to what they call music now, and also old hymns, big band, etc.

I've always preferred the classics more than the new country. Not all new country is bad but majority is. If it's new give me Randy Houser or Zack Brown Band. Otherwise when it sounds all poppy I switch to either the full on classic country station or the one that is a mix but more of the country sound so you know you're listening to country.

You know you are old when...

Right after the dreaded gyn exam and tests are done...your doctor says this would be the last time this procedure will ever be done to me. Yeah! Whoa! Wait a minute...does this mean I will never ever be able to have any more babies?
