All I know the continued opinions on the groups as to rooting brugs is making my head spin. I've got some in the bubbler - and others like I saw Donner's...in cups with clear bags. I think all except the very large less green cuttings are going into cups on the plant stand by the window this weekend. I will cry if I start having cuttings rotting.

Chantell, I hope they do well for you. Thumbs up
One cutting I had potted in soil one year, looked really yucky above the soil- bark turned slimy... yet when I dumped her out, the part BELOW the soil line looked healthy, I think it even had a leaf bud starting to grow just below the soil level. Mysterious. Here's hoping we hvae a brug forest in a couple months...
Plant it and they will come.

I agree
Probably no one sure fire, always works for me method. One way may work one year and be found wanting the next, given state of cuttings when we take them and growing conditions til they are mature enough to set out or repot.

Trend in the industry seems to be several cuttings = more quickly sellable plant or fewer failures per pot.

Rick, I was thinking that the egg carton was a good way to keep things upright, too. Was also thinking that the carton styrofoam was flexible enough to almost totally seal off rooting area from above ground and thus minimize conditions for rotting as roots emerge. If the cuttings are in damp moss(can't tell from pic) that should be enough moisture for rooting.

Gita,
anthiriums like coarse , free draining soil so 'orchid type' works for them better than regular potting soil. Let them dry out a bit between waterings.
Re pot when roots show thru the drainage holes. Bright, but no direct sunlite.

My Pentas cuttings have rooted well, and seem only hindered by little pots drying out a bit too quickly. I pruned the current flowers off a small potted one, and have it in the house. I think it will have enough oopmh for rebloom (RED!) for XMas.

Can I start watering an Amaryllis that has been dry for at least six weeks? Should I place the bulb under light before I see any growth, or just once I do?
Plant it and they will come.

Can't believe myself. I just took one more pink Brug cutting. It looked so promising I couldn't let it go. And I no know how much wiggle room is on my windowsills.
Plant it and they will come.

@Chantell. That's quite impressive! I wouldn't know where to put them if I rooted that many. Green Grin!

My Dr S cuttings grew roots in only two weeks. The Maya cuttings are also doing well. Need to move them to larger pots soon.

I bought a small bottle of rooting hormone for my failed attempt of rooting Viburnums, but didn't use it with the Brugs. Brug cuttings are truly easy to root. nodding

How long do you keep them in the baggies? Or is it simply based on the amount of roots you see in the cup?

@Chantell, I removed the plastic bags as soon as I saw the roots.  This was actually the first time I used plastic bags for brug cuttings.  The reason was that the area they were in was a bit too dry because the heating was already on.  In previous years cuttings were taken well before heating started and I never put them in plastic bags.

Brug cuttings are really easy to root!  I cannot imagine how they can fail to root as long as the cuttings are from mature wood.

Here are the healthy roots of another Dr S cutting that I started exactly 3 weeks ago. Green Grin!

Sally, thenext time you're at Panera, just wander over to the cold drink dispensers and grab a couple of the courtesy cups. I think they're 6-8oz in size. And if you get the lids, they're great for small stuff like plant clips from orchids, etc.

I think we keep our house too cold - LOL. I potted up some more in their plastic cups last night as they were showing some roots from being in the bubbler. I went ahead and put them in baggies as I did cave and turn on the heat earlier this week. Once I start seeing more leaves and roots, I'll remove the baggies as well. So many folks on the Brug FB group talk about certain cultivars being difficult to root...I'm just trying to play it safe. Seriously though - with the extras some kind folks sent I will have quite a few to share should they all take.

RIck, I eat at Panera often enough to have a nice collection of the regular fountain drink size. I cannot bring myself to take extras, just makes me feel guilty.

What the heck? I got two more Maya cuttings in a pot today. This is nuts.
Plant it and they will come.
