Remembering, Sweet Sharon
She was a wonderful lady who will always be remembered with great fondness and love, her kindness and generous spirit were so special. I never had the honor of meeting Sharon in person but from the first time I met her on the forums at DG, then the move to Cubits, All Things Plants (garden.org) and Facebook, I felt like I had known her forever.
Sharon was a caring and compassionate lady whose stories were loved by so many. The stories about life growing up in the Appalachians, time spent with her Ninna and especially her treks through the mountains with her Aunt Bett ... she had a way of writing that just made the reader feel as though they were right there with her! I too, hoped that her daughters would be able to make a compilation of her wonderful stories, to be published in a book in her memory.
I saw photos of some of Sharon's artwork and In June 2012, she donated one of her beautiful paintings for a raffle prize that many of us hoped to be the recipient of; ValleyLynnn was the lucky winner of that gorgeous painting which can be seen here (for best view, click to enlarge the photo):

A year or so later, Sharon and I chatted via email about her doing a painting for me and she added me to her project list; she had three or four folks ahead of me, which of course was no surprise. She inquired about what type of painting I wanted; subject, colors, etc. and I told her that I didn't care, I'd be happy with anything that she painted but of course she wanted me to be more exact so I told her that I really loved the Hibiscus in her earlier painting and so we decided on a Hibiscus bloom. She made note of my preferred color choices, size of canvas, etc. but then health issues arose and she never got a chance to start on my painting and I don't know how many on her list that she was able to completed but after her first hospital stay, she felt bad about the unfinished projects.
I like to think the ever present beauty in our world; the flowers, the colors of the sky at sunrise or sunset ... is our Sweet Sharon.
