Not more than about 14-16 inches across. It is beautiful and has very vicious barbs. There also is the 'quadricolor' variety which is stunning.

Hetty is that one of the hardy Agave. I love that plant. Wonder if it would grow here in a protected area? Lovey dubby

If it will grow near you, you are welcome to a piece of it. Not sure if it is hardy. You do the homework, I'll send you a pup! Smiling

On my way Tee. : )

There must be many types of Agave lophantha? Hetty's above plant doesn't look like any of the photos in the database.
Hetty do you know which one it is? I'm all ears!
I do see where they can be hardy into zone 8. Lovey dubby

Yes, but they have about the same hardiness. I grow A. lophantha 'Splendid' here in zone 6b/7a but I'm a bit of a zone pusher with that. However, my small one is doing just fine with a slight bit of winter protection to be on the safe side..

Beautiful blooms Paul.

Tee what do you do to give it winter protections? Is your winter/spring really wet?

Gorgeous, Paul. Looks like an aloe.

Lynn, I stick it under the carport or under the deck in a location where it still gets afternoon sun. Yes, our winters can be snowy and spring can be very wet. So far, so good.

That means I might have a chance at keeping one alive outdoors year round. Thanks for the information Tee. : )
I can put it on my covered porch for winter. It will get 1/2 day of sun.
One more question. Do you water it in the winter?

Yes, I was most likely wrong since I didn't enlarge the picture. Haworthia probably.
