We have ordered from Gold Coast as well as having won lots of their daylily auctions on the Lily Auction over the past 5 years. Their daylilies are awesome! They send large fans and almost always extra fans with nice bonuses. You will not be disappointed. Bonnie and Stan Holley were the guest speakers at our Region 5 Fall meeting in October. They brought most of their 2013 Intros for auction. We came home with a few including the one on their catalog cover and then ordered more from their catalog and website. They give you a choice of ordering 4 or more of their 2013 Intros and get 30% off which equates to a free intro. Often times the bonus will be one or more of their recent intros. plus others depending on how many daylilies are ordered/won.

Susan, by next planting season you may need to buy more land! lol I love your excitement!

You can put favorite sellers and favorite dls and the LA will tell you when they are listing. I didn't do that for a
while but it saves time checking the LA.

I was going to do that but then it will only notify me when they post. I wanted to view now. I put in Gold Coast and nothing came up. Then I put them in favorites and that popped up error. Ok, my bad I had a space in there. I did add them as a favorite seller and also checked feedback. I still don't know how to look at someones current listings with out scrolling through the alphabet, ok I see they have nothing listed. All that scrolling for nothing. Sad

"goldcoast" has two pages of auctions. Go to the top left of the page on the auction where it says "Search open items" and use the drop down box and go to "Seller", then type in "goldcoast". Click on Search all items. They will all come up. Then you can save their auctions in your favorites.

virginiarose said: The back yard inside the privacy fence is long and narrow, but the daylilies will work all down the long fence, probably two rows would be good, ok three.

When you plant along the fence just make sure that it is not too deep (wide) since you will only be able to access the bed from one side. I made the mistake of doing that in several places and now if I want to reach the plants in the back I have to step into the bed to do so.

That's what I was afraid of, ok only two rows and they will zig zag whenever possible. Thanks!! I tip my hat to you.

You are welcome. It was not that long ago that we had plenty of room to add more daylilies. But, then we started receiving let's say 200+ in the spring and then another 200+ in the fall for a few years. Now, we are past full and still adding. That means that daylilies have to leave from here to have room for new ones. How did this happen??? I could blame it on the Lily Auction, but the Lily Auction did not place those bids. We did! We have gotten some great buys there, but it does not take long for all those wins, one here, two there, three here, five there, etc., to add up. I have been talking about downsizing but to this point, it has only been TALK. I am on the LA now bidding and still have daylilies in pots to plant this fall. I better get off here and go plant some of those!

Doris, I was thinking that as you get newer daylilies that bloom better, you might be able to sell or trade the less desirable daylilies. Rolling my eyes. I mean the crappie ones! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Susan, the problem is that none of them are crappy. I know what you are saying. We picked 90 of the less desireables in one location to move out this fall. Most of these are less than 10 years old and some just 5 years from introduction. I happened to mention to someone that we were downsizing, and he asked for our list. When he saw the list, how many fans each cultivar was, and the prices, he asked how much we would sell all of them. We gave him a very good price. He got the first ones this past weekend and will get the rest later. Most of these were clumps of varying size. This will create a little space for the ones in pots. I am doing away with a couple of small daylily beds and putting hostas and other shade plants in these areas. (I also have them here in pots.) I will need places to relocate these daylilies. I will move some to another area for future daylily club plant sales. We also have to make room for the auction daylilies (we hope at least a 100) that we will be growing for the 2014 Region 5 Spring Meeting. We will also be hosting the seedling bed for that meeting and have built a new bed for that purpose. It is sitting empty now, but it will become a new daylily bed for any new arrivals in the fall of 2014!

Whistling Sounds like you got your hands full. Jeepers!! I actually have a 'do not plant list', knowing what I know now, some would not be worth the ground space. I will keep them in pots till I can use them for a trade or give them to someone who needs a few for landscaping.
