The Nils actually like the shorter days (light wise) coming into the end of summer, they start putting out more flowers in hopes of producing seeds.

I was so planning on posting photos of the results of my spring sowing, but the wildlife has scrambled my plans. Literally. It started with the ants stealing a bunch of seeds before I'd covered them (why are those bachelor's button seeds MOVING?!), the squirrels dug up and reburied things and the juncos pecked and pooped things all over. And the crows hid millet suet bits for later. I have mystery plants everywhere.

It's gorgeous, though, even as unplanned and mysterious as it is.

Julie, what beautiful gardens! I love your raised beds! I am looking forward to having raised over beds in our next home at some point, too, but it may be awhile. Yours are very pretty, though.

Julie you gardens are lovely. I like the jumbled look the bezt. Maybe it's because thats how mine are to.
I have had almost no luck this year with my morning glorys.
What I have pretty good luck with is

snap dragons,
marigolds
Canna lilys
Nastriums
And a mixture of others that will bloom next year such as foxgloves, bellflowers, columbine, rose campion.
I also have unnamed ones.

First blooms from the beautiful Ipomoeias (morning glories). This was labeled as split/feathered purple, but looks like the feathered characteristic didn't get passed down to this seedling. It has beautiful red purple coloring in the folds of the flower though and the rest of it is very blue. So pretty!

@luvsgrtdanes, the color in the picture isn't as blue of a purple as the blooms, but the second picture I added a white paper to help the color balance on my phone.

Here are the first blooms of the Climbing Phoenix Nasturtiums, too! They are so neat! I think I will actually try eating a few here once I have more blooms going!

Ronnie, I am getting my fist true split blooms....one yesterday and one today. Previously, there would, at most, be a single split on the flower and it would just look like a tear in the bloom. Now it is actually looking like a split with separate pedals.

A bloom from today (raining heavily, not the best picture)

The color in the pictures is way off....the blooms are a deep blue-purple with reddish-purple highlights (like the Grandpa Ott variety).

Elena, the tassel flower seeds I got from you make a very cute, vibrant flower addition! I don't have a great picture of them to share yet, but hopefully later today I might. I will need to plant more of them next time, they will look good en masse.
