Okay, the zucchini/summer squash bed is all weeded and scratched up and the soil is ready for planting. Have measured and put in stakes where each plant is to go. Measures out to be 11 rows of three plants each.

Any extra plants I have will go up in the raised bed in the terraces garden. I had zucchini there last year and it worked out well. Hopefully that will do it and I wouldn't have extra's beyond that.

I potted up 36 of my pepper plants -- 22 were jalapenos; only another 60 or so to go Hilarious!

Then I planted my 6 "early tomato plants" (started around the beginning of March) in the hoop house; 3 Viva Italia, 1 Health Kick, and 2 Bush Goliath.

Now that the weather is finally starting to get a little better I'm feeling a lot of pressure to get things done! (too bad I'm not feeling an equal surge of energy Rolling my eyes. )

Geez that side yard bed has 33 plants and I had leftovers. Of course I planted the leftovers also. My tomato bed in the back has straight neck summer squashes planted in three of the pathways.

Yup, had squash in the pathways last year and it was a royal pain. But of course I do it again!! Grumbling

Mostly my little zucchini and summer squash plants are looking great. One got dug up and killed I guess by a squirrel so I simply just put two seeds right there in place for the replacement.

Anotherone broken I had an extra plant and replanted.

I just want the plants to get some growth on them so that the critters can't damage them.

I did lightly sprinkle fertilizer around each plant. Squash like fertile soil. Already planted in lots of compost.

Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

That is great, always exciting when the fruit picking starts.

I have had Caveli and it is a very nice zucchini.

Thank you.

How do y'all keep the plant manageable? Can I just keep trimming the large leaves? Maybe that was my problem. I never trimmed leaves and they couldn't get pollinated. We have snakes here so it'll be nice to be able to see the base of the plant more.

Oh no. Don't trim leaves at all unless they are turning yellow. Mostly just let the plants grow.

Yellow summer squash. I've already had to toss out a few so this morning I went out there and self pollinated. I see bees all over my cucumber flowers but not these.
Hope it works..
