I'm so annoyed! I just went to check on my zucchini and I found more rotten! I know it's not the soil. Y'all must be right.
I planted yellow squash by seed. Will those have the same problem? They haven't popped up yet.

Start pollinating them yourself. Go out in the morning and get it done.

Maybe plant some things to attract more bees?

Tomorrow morning I will! Kids have kept me busy today.

I need to look up what attracts bees. What do y'all use?

I did some research about pollination. That's exactly what's happening. Just looking at the pictures and the difference between blossom end rot and poor pollination...
Last year we had bees swarm our house and tried making a hive in our house. We were forced to leave and had to bomb our entire house. We picked up hundreds of bees. I know it's horrible to kill bees but it was the only way. We contacted a bee keeper nearby and he couldn't help up. So having bees scares me lol. I'm afraid they'll come back inside. My son is allergic too..

I agree

A bee swarm is non-aggressive, but still -- they can't use the house for their hive!

(this - the non-aggressive part - is assuming they were actually bees and not wasps or hornets -- we had a bunch of hornets living behind our siding at one time Thumbs down )

Depends, some species of honey bee can be very aggressive and they do do exist in some southern, southwestern states.

Yes, that's true -- the Africanized bees in particular. But normally when they are in the process of swarming they aren't interested in attacking.

Uh, not necessarily true. My dad and his foursome walked into a swarm at a golf course and they did attack. The Africanized bees are crazy!

The plants stopped producing fruit. It just has leaves and male flowers. I never got the chance to pollinate. Everytime I went out there in the morning the female flowers we either closed or all brown and shriveled up. I'm about to pull the entire thing up and never plant zucchini again lol Grumbling

I wonder if zucchini plants quit producing in high heat?
Tomato plants will slow down if temperatures get very warm.
But they start again when temperatures drop?

Odd that that the zucchini is doing so poorly. Wish I knew what to tell you but I am puzzled.

It's not too hot. It's super humid here though. I just pulled the whole thing up. It's too much work. Crying maybe I'll have better luck with the yellow squash. Thanks y'all Thank You!

Most of my zucchini and summer squash seeds have come up and I have little seedlings. Two varieties are not up yet and I find it odd as the seeds are fresh.

OMG, Rita -- you're going to have to open a farm stand! Hilarious!

I put 3 seeds in each compartment but not all three in each came up. But most did. Except for nothing on Zephyr and one other. At least not yet. Strange.

Still I have enough squash plants so I will manage!! Hilarious!

I have a side yard bed I have decided to use for squash but I Have so many plants that will have to find other places to put them also.

Oh and I know some people say zucchini and summer squashes hard to give away. Not for me. I have lots of neighbors that want them.

My little zucchini plants are out getting sunshine and looking good. Starting to get true leaves now. Should be good to out out in ground by the second week on May or so.
