Found this Red Admiral the other day...seems like Rue popular for butterflies these days. I'll be glad when they have more choices!

You're right, Sheryl, Sunlight Gardens and Gardens Oy Vey in Memphis (for their emphasis on going Green as well).
I garden for the pollinators.

Pretty butterfly! Feeling good for the first time since I caught a bug, I was enjoying the warm day on my way to the post office. After I got there, I saw a Pipevine Swallowtail flitting around the grassy area on the side of the building, I had my camera, but it never stayed still. Doing what those females do...constantly flitting around, looking for Swan Flower (host plant).

Was in Lakehills today, saw another Pipevine Swallowtail flitting around in front of a vacant building there. There were a bunch of Swan Flower (A. erecta) growing right in front there. Wish I'd taken my camera with me, many were flowering, definitely were loving all the rain the area has had. Anyway, I found the first two butterfly caterpillars I've seen this year and took them home with me. Also I collected some seeds. They always say not to use seed you find on the ground, but hey...that's where all the seed were located.

Get ready for the Red Admirals this year, everybody! Now if go out in the yard, there are a bunch of them fluttering up every time I get close! I found one definite caterpillar on pellitory, spotted some nests I'll check out later. Going to be quite a year for this species!

I am seeing so many red admirals this year! If it is any indication of how our bf season is going, I may run out of host plants. I shot a great video of RAs on my bf brew yesterday, but don't know how to upload it.

Sheila, there have tons of those for a long time here, cats were on pellitory and nettle, probably still are, although I stopped checking them a while back. I've been releasing Monarchs I raised...two more chrysalises left. With all the thistle that's everywhere, those cats are numerous too. Both kinds of frits have been using host plants here. But swallowtails...I've seen none, except for the Pipevine Swallowtails. I did have 2 of the two-tail tigers I raised last spring that did emerge this year, but otherwise none of those around.

Husband took this photo yesterday when we were out plant shopping. One of the garden centers had these butterflies hanging out. Not really a butterfly we see around here. I was able to id it from Linda's photo just a few posts up. (Thanks Smiling Linda)

Supposedly we are seeing some butterflies not normal to the area because of a big storm a couple weeks ago down in Nebraska.

That picture is gorgeous, Maridell! I don't have a camera that works right now and I'm thinking of buying a Canon again. I still have a couple of lenses from an old nondigital Canon and as far as we can tell, I could use those lenses with the a new digital Canon. I get antsy when I can't take any pictures!
