I will! Our weather can be pretty unpredictable, so I will be sure to bring them in before there's even a chance of it getting too cold!

I just brought all my Sans out of the basement. Got rain the next day and they are soaked. Hope we don't get any lows in the 50's. I also hope they don't die or get ugly with dieback. Noticed many flowers that are dead and dried up. Haven't been down to do anything with them for months. Noticed $20 a month off the elect. bill already. About 12 shop lights are now turned off. Thinking about replacing with LED's for the fall to same money. I used the cheap T-8 bulbs. Some showing signs of wearing out. (dark spots forming at the ends of the tubes). Been too busy with yard work to do nothing else. I have major retaining wall issues costing me thousands of dollars that I don't have.

Okay soooo. My second leaf isn't a second leaf afterall (that would explain the ants and the fast growing speed when compared to the first leaf). I have a bloom stalk forming! Hurray! I'll take a picture later!

New to the forum so please excuse if this has been discussed. I found the forum after realizing this evening that mine is flowering! I never knew it could do that! Then, after reading about them I am unsure if this is a good thing since from what I gather the plant only blooms when it is root bound. Could someone with more experience please clarify for me. Do I need to repot it or just leave it be and enjoy the show!......

oh yes and also, I noticed a few of the stalks starting the lean outwards and read this was a sign of overwatering... I don't usually overwater (after experience drowning a few in the past) but may have given it just a tad too much in the last few weeks... any feedback here would be appreciated...

thanks in advance! Thank You!

I apologize, I am so scatter brained lately. I guess having a house and a never ending to do list does that to you. Hilarious!

Here's the bloom stalk forming on my Sansevieria cylindrica that @gasrocks gave me. Lovey dubby

I recently asked about two leaves forming at the same time and it became pretty evident a couple days later that one wasn't a new leaf. Hilarious!

My Sans. bloom all the time it seems like. Not related to root bound. Some taller leaves will lean a bit. Use a stake and tie them up. Gene

Some species of Sans. have very fragrant blossoms. I have been woken up at night by the powerful smell of a single Sans. flower stalk. Gene

SwirlingHands, welcome to our site. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. This is how we learn from each other. They grow well being root bound but seems to grow better re-potted into a larger container. I use tomato cages on some of my taller sans to keep the leaves upright. If only one or a few, using stakes works well. Many sans leaves that was leaning over became ridge once again after being stacked and tied.
Problem with having one flower is that most flower from the main terminal shoot which means no new growth will come from that section of the plant. It will continue to grow new shoots up from the roots. Some here use a tiny paint brush to pollinate the flowers and collect seeds later to grow new plants. I don't because it takes a very long time and mostly same old plants. Cross pollinate from different sans species can produce new exciting hybrid plants.

Hi, I am new to this forum. I found it this weekend and read through all the comments twice. Its to wonderful to learn so much about these wonderful plants. Here is one that has been in our family for 44 years. I salvaged it from my Mom's trash about 15 years ago. Hasn't done much since I repotted it at that time. I did add the yellow edged one at the time I repotted. I'm thinking of repotting and putting it in better light.

@plantmanager It has not bloomed as far as I know. It might have bloomed at my mom's but don't think so. Thanks for the welcome.

Welcome! French. Your plant look healthy. I would give them some more room to grow and place them outdoors under shelter for the summer. nodding

After reading about so many different Sans, I went and bought one at my local nursery. The label says Black Gold sup. It's got a pup too Green Grin!

There are so many different ones, Frenchy. I love Sansevieria Parva. It grows quickly and blooms often. It's very easy to start collecting them because they grow so well and take so little care.
